I'm probably going to pick up a Behringer Neutron this week. I figure it will be fun to plug into the Model D... and itself of course.
I think it's more what I was afer when I bought the Model D. When I called the Model D limited, I think it was because I'm used to software like Blocks where I have endless options in a small space.
Even when I had my Microkorg, I thought the range and depth of sounds was more value for the money compared to what I'm currently getting out of the Model D.
I had an Arturia Brute for a while a couple years ago then sold it to a friend who then sold it as well. Looking at other synths, but not sure.

May have just got a steal on a Korg MS20. Will find out in 3-6 days.

Just had a thrash on that new supermoog. A ton of potential for sure. Not entirely sure it’s worth the 8k, but it is powerful. I liked the way the two filters combined to add a lot of variation to the basic sound.

I've spent countless dollars on drum samples and drum plug-ins / apps over the years. I think it's time to buy a drum machine.
Looking at used gear from guitar center, I'm leaning towards an electribe, but not really sure. Also saw a boss dr660. it reminded me of my industrial days in the late 90's not sure the nostalgia would be enough to make me want to keep it.
Suggestions?
- to be used stand alone, or interfaced with computer?futurefood
- personally, i would get MPC live. only because im so familiar with the ui for so longfuturefood
- otherwise...Elektron gearfuturefood
- im looking into a new hardware drum machine as wellfuturefood
- I'm trying to go stand alone to move away from the computer for a whileimbecile
- Digitakt is good fun, easy to learn, not as deep as the Octatrack which is meant to be a fucker to master. Digi can sequence 8 midi tracks too!microkorg
- Mate had the Pioneer Toriaz SP-16 and liked it a lot. I think I'd prefer the MPC live over it though. But doesnt the MPC have a lot of bugs?microkorg
- Electribes and DR's might feel a bit restrictive these days. A lot of lo-fi folk rock the SP-404.microkorg
- If you've already got an iPad then you can grab a pad controller like Akai MPD and pair it with Beatmaker3 which kicks the ass of a lot of hardware samplers!microkorg
- (cos the MPC live is pretty much just software and a controller ;))microkorg
- TR-8S? The electribe's are kinda shit tbh. I've always been underwhelmed with them.section_014
- I am quiet in love with my new elektron digitakt ..autoflavour
- that digitakt looks dope. the SP-404SX is pretty cool too. thanks for leading me down a better pathimbecile

There's a few others on here got a Numark PT-01 Scratch eh?
I've already upgraded mine with a start/stop button and a Stokyo Platter & Kutter.
With the new Traktor (I get a free upgrade) having Timecode support for ALL soundcards, I'm going to grab myself a 7" Traktor Vinyl and a Bluetooth Mixfader to scratch with Traktor.
// I'd like to be able to drop vocals and loops i'm currently working on in Ableton Live/Maschine to scratch with them or stop/start vinyl effect etc and record it live with beats to create new compositions //
And now it's got me thinking maybe I should upgrade the tonearm too (Jesse Dean Carbon Fibre) so I can fit a better stylus (Sure M44-7 Cart and Stylus) for better scratching (and listening) with regular vinyl and timecoded.
Bloody pricey though! It'll mean the £99 plastic turntable will have had another like £300-350 spent on it! lol.

just took delivery of a motu 828 mk2. it'll mean dismantling the 'studio' to incorporate it but it should mean i'm properly set up, compared to the latency-plagued lash-up of an imic and midisport2x2 that i have been using.
- Nice one.. I recently migrated all my midi switches to motu.. and one day when I have spare cash, will upgrade to the 828 alsoautoflavour
- those things are built like tanks...keewee

:(
The MS20 deal fell through. Once I received it, it was a microKORG XL. Guitar Center accepted the return for the mislabel.
Now, I can either...
1. Order the Neutron for $255 (Probably this)
2. Try for a new MS20 at around $382.50 (I've emailed my rep)
3. Pick up a Mother-32 for $420 (Used, may miss out)Eventually, I'd like to get all 3. Combined with my Model D, any / all of these could be sonically endless given the patching options they present.
Still need to get some kind of analog drum machine / sequencer as well.
- Still digging, I've noticed the Neutron can create sounds that are meh and also ahh. the price point reflects that range I believe.imbecile
- I've learned the MS20's ability to be modular is limited by being hardwired and depends on an adapter to play nicely.imbecile
- The Mother-32 has great sound and is modular out of the box, only limited by the single VCO... and maybe (new) price.imbecile
- Ms20 are over rated. At the time they were amazing .. but yep, having had both a OG and a mini.. they are both lacklusterautoflavour
- thanks, i keep reading a lot about noise tooimbecile

Friends, I have no idea what I'm doing in this thread, but I am deep in the rabbit hole of exploring these devices:
PO-20 Arcade
Made by this company: https://www.teenageengineering.c…
Maybe it makes me a poseur, but these things look so rad!
Any of you actually own and make music with one of these things?
- This guy's video gives you an idea of what's possible: https://www.youtube.…nocomply
- i dont have one myself. They look fun.
might gift a few to my nephewsfuturefood - they have an amazing sound. look like toys but link one up to a proper pa and stand the hell back....hans_glib
- awesome gift for kids who are into music making. definitely the opening of a rabbit hole though. Check out their new OP-Zmicrokorg
- I used to have the OP-1 which I sold and deeply regret. I never used it much for making final music as it doesnt sync with stuff easily...microkorg
- .. but it was so much fun to just sit and relax and jam with which is what I miss it for. I also had a PO-12.microkorg
- As your next jump I'd recommend checking out Elektron Digitakt or DIgitone. ;)microkorg
- you can make music on anything.. depends on what kind of music is the key to that equation.autoflavour
- futurefood3
- very jealous... haven't tried the micro, but it's big brother is all over my new record could really do with one of these for live...kingsteven
- that would make a sweet more fun replacement for the Akai LPK25. those two screens surely have a classic VU meter feature?shapesalad
- ah, I see full sized keys.shapesalad
- ^ it's not a control keyboard, an instrument in itself.kingsteven
- lol shape. The keyboard is great, not at all what i expected. The larger, 4000D model has wooden keys.futurefood
- @king, this is my first mellotron experience, really. Never messed with M-Tron or the like.futurefood
- ...For the past couple years i'd been hoping to buy 4000D mini but never pulled the trigger.futurefood
- Heh, I love the authenticity of the wooden keys, somehow makes it sound more like classic mellotron because you're forced to play it like one...kingsteven
- I've tried the mini and it suits me (primarily a guitarist) far better but tbh I think 2 octaves would do. on the list, but samples will have to do for now :-|kingsteven

Added some new bits and pieces to my PT-01 Scratch last night ...
Now it’s a pretty damn kickass quality turntable, sounds a lot better and the needle sticks to the groove like glue which is amazing! Never ever put a great stylus and cart on a turntable ive owned before. Man, its night and day!
New Additions:
Jesse Dean Designs Carbon Fibre Tonearm & PreAmp
Shure M44-7 Cartridge & Stylus
White DJ Tech Tools Chroma Caps
Jesse Dean Designs White Felt Replacement
Jesse Dean Designs White Spindle Holder
Bluetooth Mixfader (Planning on using this with Traktor 3 Scratch & Timecode vinyl so I can sample on the fly and drop into Traktor for scratching and other turntable effects)
Jesse Dean Designs & Turntable Training Wax stickers.Previous Additions:
Stokyo Skratch Ready Platter
Arcade Start/Stop Button
Stokyo Kutter CrossfaderHave tried the Mixfader with the app on iphone and it’s not quite a real experience, I hope that when I get traktor downloaded (tonight) that its a better realtime experience. If the bluetooth has lag then I think i can just plug it right in and use it as a mid controller directly.
- wow!********
- I still can't scratch worth a fuck though ;)microkorg
- hahahaha!********
- wow!
- ApeRobot0
- so hang on, scratching isn't rewinding a track a little anymore?hans_glib
- I was hoping it was a replacement for serrate-not an addition. I'll save my 350lvl_13
- Its replacing the needle with a really accurate accelerometer. You still need to scratch, but now you dont have to be as carefull with the needle.err

- i love the idea of this, clean, minimal interface and design, but not happy w/ the no screen aspect (dependency on iOS), still very cool thoprophetone
- ios only? Why? That's fuckin' stupid. Since there's a 99% chance it's a bluetooth connection, just make it a web interface.section_014
