A guy is selling a Hasselblad 500c with about 3000 shots for $900. It comes with two zeis lenses and a macro adapter among other goodies is this a good deal?

Yes very good deal.

I don't have a lot of experience with those cameras, any insight will be greatly appreciated.

You need to get a light meter.

It is a 'take your time composing' type of shooting.
Don't rush it and make sure every frame counts (hence test your shot on black and white polaroid).
Tripoding your camera works the best or get a neck strap for walk around.

i'd say those two lenses alone (what ever they are) are probably worth more than $900

wait... a 500C, or a 500C/M? or 503CX?
the 500C hasn't been made since for over 20 years.... it may be due for a CLA.. Clean, Lubricate,Adjust
...and the focussing screen on a 500C is darker than a 500C/M... try it! See if you can focus! The previous owner may have updated the focussing screen....
I'd take it to a technician and have it checked out... these beasties can jam and/or do strange things if not used for a long time.... i.e. you may get a roll or two, then it gets tighter,etc...
Also, are the lenses black or chrome? the chrome lenses flare easily, but you may want that....

For the price, it is a good entry to medium format. Once you understand the kinks of your particular camera, think about upgrade or fixing it.
I have 500C also and yes it does get cranky from time to time. Never had it CLA. Just not worth the money as I hardly shoot with it.

Sounds like a good deal. Make sure that lens is good. I guess the Hasselblad 500c have depreciated really bad.
