I am choosing to work this year except xmas eve and xmas, possibly boxing day and new years i will take off. Thats really only 4-5 working days in between and boxing day is a monday. There is no big plans and I really can use the time to focus, everything will be quiet so I can get things done and give myself some breathing room in the new year.

Nope.
Most people in my office take vacation around then, though.
Office is nice and quiet.- < Same. I like the quiet time. And all my family is coming over here for the holidays, so I don't have to take extra time off.Jaline

I'll be working from home mostly. I love it though. For the first time in my life I'm actually quite eager to work. It's a nice change from my usual lazy self.

one of the best posts ever, coming soon: do you brush your teeth, do you wear shoes, do you breath etc etc

As the business owner, I get to make my own hours. Which means I don't take time off. :-)

Office is open, but I'm taking it off.
In my previous job, the office was closed from about dec 22-ish-Jan 3ish. depending on how the holidays fell. That was pretty nice.

this ain't no fucking europe. get back to work! enjoy the two days off. (one at christmas, one at new years) lol.

I don't but I'm taking it off as I've got leave left. but almost pointless as last year I was one of 5 people in the whole office and had absolutely nothing to do, so basically got paid to work on personal shit and piss about. Best few days' work ever ;)

Depends on the job. Retail forget it.

Could the time between xmas and new year's be considered the Holiday Taint?
- bliznutty0
heck if you have the time and $$ you should check out the SnowGlobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe (Dec. 29-31, 2011)

that's like the taint of the year

I work for myself and I'm more or less taking that time off, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm not going to work.
But back when I had "real" full-time jobs I never got more than 1-2 days at Christmas and 1 day for New Years.
