Use the 3G as an iPod or music server (permanently docked/connected to a soundsystem), or give it to a kid to play games on, I guess.
I have the same issue with photos on my 4.
- Exactly what I did with my 3G. It's deathly slow for anything else.CyBrainX

I'm in the same deal, cept have the 3GS and 4S.
Thinking about selling the 3GS, you can actually get decent loot for it. Like $125. Maybe with that money, buy an external drive for your tunes and homemade porn vids.

by downloading pictures do you mean Photo Stream, or just syncing pics?

I think it would be terrific to turn a 3g into a AirPlay device. Sadly the only I app I can find that would do this is very poorly written and either crashes or doesn't work at all.

I'm saying downloading the photos I've taken since I've got it,
it won't synch the new photos

My wife's 3G had a jacked up screen (from being dropped once) and the battery life was only a few hours if being used so we blew it up.
It was more awesome than I thought it was going to be, and I thought it was going to be pretty fucking awesome.

Syncing photos sucks. iTunes suck.
While I am happy with my iPhone 4S and iPad 2, I look forward to increased competition (not a fan of Apple's "complete control" over every piece of data).
Drag and drop, please.

Give your 3G phone to someone that just got a blackberry, or an android, and while doing it, make sure your eyes and body language demonstrate a mixsture of sympathy with a sense of well being for helping someone in need..
Just wait till they show you their new phone, look down on them and say something like: here, have mine. I don't need it anymore...
Maybe follow up with a hug and wispering the words "you are welcome" on their ear..
*Make sure you know kung fu!

I always use iPhoto to sync photos, iTunes never worked for this, don't know why but it sucks at pictures. Just launch iPhoto and click Import.

I have the same problem with my 4G, I can't get any pictures off it through syncing, iphoto, or image capture — huge pain in the ass. I had to buy a FTP app to upload them to my server.

just use the 3G as a mp3 player rigged up to a hifi?
or use the 3G just as a remote for itunes on your laptop (rigged to hifi)if you dj or make music then get TouchOSC or similar and use it as a touchscreen controller :)
