fuck man... i sold them way earlier when it was $460 :(
- You could be worse, I bought them for $8 apiece in 2000, had just around 1200 shares. Sold them in 2006 for $50, ugh.brandon_phillip

I sold mine when it was at 150...

It's funny reading previous threads how people panic at selling apple stocks at 250-300 because of Steve Jobs death.
- pinkfloyd0
To say a stock is all dependent on one person is naive. They have a lot of smart people working inside with long term plans.

funny it's so high, Android has surpassed them and Samsung is still privately owned and is putting out great devices and phones.
- you trolling? :Dmonospaced
- because Apple is still selling more of everythingmonospaced

If I had the cash I would start shorting AAPL.
- aldebaran0
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty APPL sure doesn't pay dividends right?
- pinkfloyd0
They don't pay dividends, but they have close to 100 billion of cash laying around so it's could happen.
- right..;. they have paid in the past, so it's not unheard of... they've also split before...monospaced

^That's just it. Their stock value seems based more on the companies holdings than it's prospects for future growth.
- The holdings are a sign of monumental, unheard of growth and also a sign of future growthmonospaced
- "monumental, unheard of growth" straight through the worst financial crisis in years... how do you square that?monNom
- ??? Doubling profits every quarter for a year, that's how.monospaced
- well yes, but it's a tricky environment in which to do that long term.monNom
- well, yeah! that's why investors like myself follow the company very closely and try to keep emotion out of itmonospaced

^ I have to disagree. The prospects for future growth are a hot topic right now, from the iPad 3 to the possibility of their TV solution. Entering into the global market with their phones is opening up huge opportunities and soon Siri will be adapted to Chinese, Russian and other Asian languages, making their demand grow. So, despite competitors with all those tablets and feature-rich phones, Apple is still making great product on a larger scale than ever before. So, even though they have a huge holding and their stock is inflated, it's definitely still growing.
- I'd be surprised if they DIDN'T hit 600 in the next 9 months.monospaced
- Easy money :)pinkfloyd

... and right after I wrote that up there, Tim Cook spoke to Goldman Sachs about the very same things:
- I am sure Apple is really concerned about work conditions in China!utopian

Wow, it passed 500 yesterday and is well on its way to 525 as we speak.

Sheeeeez
I was thinking on getting some CfDs based on Apple.
I guess I can consider myself a cunt.BTW, it wouldn't have been a bad move to sell AAPL stocks before Jobs death and buy again straight after.
