MSNBC’s Joy Reid Questions Media Focus on Gabby Petito Case: ‘Missing White Woman Syndrome’
MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Monday questioned the media focus on Gabby Petito after remains consistent with her description were found. Using a term coined by the late journalist Gwen Ifill, Reid dubbed it “missing white woman syndrome.”
“The way this story has captivated the nation has many wondering: Why not the same media attention when people of color go missing? Well, the answer actually has a name: Missing woman syndrome,” she said on “The Reid Out.”

“We are on the edge of an abyss — and moving in the wrong direction,” Guterres said. “I’m here to sound the alarm. The world must wake up.”
Guterres said the world has never been more threatened and divided. People may lose faith not only in their governments and institutions, he said, but in basic values when they see their human rights curtailed, corruption, the reality of their harsh lives, no future for their children — and “when they see billionaires joyriding to space while millions go hungry on Earth.”
Nevertheless, the U.N. chief said he has hope.
Guterres urged world leaders to bridge six “great divides”: promote peace and end conflicts, restore trust between the richer north and developing south on tackling global warming, reduce the gap between rich and poor, promote gender equality, ensure that the half of humanity that has no access to the Internet is connected by 2030, and tackle the generational divide by giving young people “a seat at the table.”

The Controversial Election Review In Arizona Confirms Biden's Win
A widely discredited GOP-led review of the 2020 election in Arizona's largest county has concluded that Joe Biden did indeed receive more votes there than Donald Trump.
"That is a true statement," Republican state Senate President Karen Fann said Friday as she opened a presentation to detail the results of the Maricopa County review.
According to a draft copy of the findings obtained by NPR member station KJZZ ahead of the event, a hand recount of the nearly 2.1 million ballots cast in the county hewed closely to the official canvass of the results approved by county leaders.
In fact, the new hand recount for Biden exceeded the county's tally by 99 votes, while Trump received 261 fewer votes than the official results, the draft found.

"As an American citizen, I find it absolutely outrageous and shameful that our government could have contemplated the kidnapping or murder of someone (Assange) without trial simply for telling the truth by releasing genuine information," one of Assange's lawyers, Barry Pollack, commented on the report.
