This would be a totally worthy cause if the country you pay taxes to wasn't already involved in a war and about to get involved in another.

Can someone read this and summarize it for me?

From reddit:
I went through their financials in the original thread on the front page yesterday, and I'd like to share with you my concerns...Of the $8.9 million in donations they spent in 2011, this is the breakdown:
$1.7 million in US employee salaries
$357,000 in Film costs
$850,000 in Production costs
$751,000 in Computer equipment
$244,000 in "professional services" (DC lobbyists)
$1.07 million in travel expenses
$400,000 in yearly office rent in downtown San Diego
$16,000 in Entertainment
etc...Only 2.8 million (31%) made it to their charity program (which is further whittled down by local Ugandan bureaucracy) - what do the children actually get?
[1] Source on page 6 and 12 of their own financial report
Their rating on Charity Navigator is because [2] they haven't had their financial books independently audited, and have no independent board members ...which is not a surprising given the use of cash noted above.

"It would be great to get rid of Kony. He and his forces have left a path of abductions and mass murder in their wake for over 20 years. But let's get two things straight: 1) Joseph Kony is not in Uganda and hasn't been for 6 years; 2) the LRA now numbers at most in the hundreds, and while it is still causing immense suffering, it is unclear how millions of well-meaning but misinformed people are going to help deal with the more complicated reality."

"awareness"
are y'all awareness motherfuckers for real? How long have you been aware of the plight of Afghani children and when exactly did you begin giving a fuck about them?
What this video proves is that if you can take a highly complex issue that journalists and serious NGOs have been covering for years and completely dumb it the fuck down with adspeak and Gen Y bullshit, you can make Justin Bieber tweet about it.

Good viral I wonder what the brand behind it is

"are y'all awareness motherfuckers for real? How long have you been aware of the plight of Afghani children and when exactly did you begin giving a fuck about them?"
All this time all you had to do was to make a nice video for us dumb people to raise an eyebrow about it.
And you didn't. Apparently you saved your energy to post a clever comment about that years after on qbn.
mmmh that's smart really...
- ORAZAL0
Is there a trailer for it?

This video scares me. I haven't seen it, so I'm not talking abou the content. The part that scares me is how so many people people can so quickly jump to a certain conclusion about something they know nothing about.
Makes me wonder if Hollywood were smart enough, or paid enough, if they could create a movie that would make all these people do whatever they wanted. The amount of people I've seen on Facebook talking about this video makes it look like we are all sheep just doing what we're told.
Have I missed something by not watching the video? Have people lost the ability to think for themselves because of viral videos? Fuck, I don't know, I'm still not watching that video.
My little rant that means nothing. Carry on.
- This video prove that people got the real power,WE run the economy,WE can make it stop.ApeRobot
- Who is this WE you're talkin about? What are YOU doing about this situation now? Are you SURE it's the right thing to do?capn_ron
- Or, are you just doing something a video said to do? Are you doing something because everyone else is doing it without thinking about it?capn_ron
- Ok, i'll give up on everything, because maybe this is not the true truth, i'll rather do nothing.ApeRobot
- good idea. Wanna. Set for some coffee and chat about the weather? I'll buy.capn_ron
- Don't stop your plight Ape. I'm just ranting here. Go change the world and do it with a smile. Signed, grumpy old man.capn_ron
- I'm not claiming that this is the truth. I'm just saying that consumers old the economy.ApeRobot
- hold
ApeRobot - I agree 100% with you. Our dollars are our votes. Everyday I think about that.capn_ron

Occupy Wall Street
- fadein110
The 2 factions emerge:
Those who can think for themselves and already take an active interest in the world they live in.
And those who are told what to think and do and take an active interest because everyone else is.
Great cause, shady charity... Research and think for yourself before jumping on any bandwagons however just they may seem (no excuse not to in the wired world)

As much as I would like to, I don't believe a shit of all that vid, and I saw less than half of it. So fucking manufactured. I think the only bit missing to make it truly epic is to put some inserts in slow motion...
Oh, and there aren't enough american flags. Can we have some more please?
Don't get me wrong; Africa need tons of help... but it is hard to look at this without wondering what is the real interest of the people behind that video.
- monolith0
Response from Invisible Children..and it's funny how these mudslinging responses come from some personal blogs and those who always have a problem with any cause because they are bitter at the world and think everyone is trying to screw you.
- locustsloth0
it seems to me that people are putting a lot more effort into finding out why they shouldn't support this (even in a non-monetary way) than would be required to support it (in a non-monetary way).
- welcome to QBN - thats what happens round here.fadein11
- that's why shit doesn't get solved because it's easier to find fault in a cause then to just do it and try to help.monolith
- Maybe its because it smells fishycannonball1978
- ORAZAL0
It seems to me that there is no effort in clicking a like button and there lies a big part of the debate.
