In my area growing up we had a local gluesniffer, I'm sure you all had one. He had a big Alsatian dog he would walk around with, off his face and stinking of glue.
We'd try and get a chase from him occasionally by noising him up, he was surprisingly fast at running, my mate said the glue made him run faster.
There were occasions wher he'd also be running about in his pants I remember, jibbering to himself.Years later he was still alive, I must have been about 14 or so and I heard he'd won some money at the bookies on the horses and decided to have a drink in my local pub, it must have been enough money to draw attention, because it led to him being beaten to death and robbed later that night.
The police said he was so badly kicked and punched that at first they thought he'd been ran over more than once.
The dog was inconsolable and had to be put down a couple of weeks later.No one got arrested for it.
