I was a late comer to FB.
I should really leave it. I don't mind people who are super into it, I think I'm worse because I'm one of those people who hates it but is always on just talking shit behind a computer screen to all my friends. I don't even participate or talk to anyone. It's just there to bother me.

I'm all for freedom of information. It's a good thing. Really.
I had to leave it though because at the same time it's the most narcissistic thing on the planet. Also as "social" as it suposed to be it does the exact oposite. I'm glad I left and never looked back because as fourth said it's no longer there to bother me.

I've had it since 07 and i still like it.
I've removed all notification from all those crap. Restricted invites from apps, games, pages etc.Only comment on few things or just be obnoxious and become a hater. I do use it to comment on Game of Thrones and sports wth my friends. That's about it.

No way. It's my best source of news that interests me. Ive hidden everyones updates except my family because I dont give a shit about what anyone ate for lunch, but I do get a kick ass news stream of every single thing I like under the sun.

if you live abroad or alway from your city, or even if you don't meet your friends and family as much as you'd like FB still a good place to feel part of the club.

I started using facebook in early 2007 and it's easy to forget how much it has matured since then. I remember feeling it was quite trivial with all the app spam etc but now it really can be used as a genuine tool of communication. Facebook chat has replaced msn etc, and even to a lesser extent email. In many ways I rely on it more than I do my phone and my facebook address book is far more comprehensive. But this really depends on the type of people you associate with, I'm 25 and most of my friends are my age or younger, so leaving facebook would essentially cut me out of the loop in many groups of friends. Most are very active, and it is a hub for birthday invitations etc. I use it a lot to stay in touch with friends particular ones overseas and it is also great for reconnecting with others from the past because phone numbers and email addresses change, but everyone uses their real name on facebook. I take a pragmatic approach to the whole privacy thing, if you don't want to be judged don't put it on the freaking internet. Only add friends who have common sense and courtesy etc..
Working in advertising and specifically digital, I know that the reason facebook is free is because of all the things they know about us, but I guess I don't really care because at the end of the day you can target an ad at me and I'll click on it just to waste your spend.
lol.

this weekend, i met about 14-20 people who asked me if i was on facebook after we swapped #'s.
is FB the new cellphone? it made me rethink deactivating my account... trying to resist!
- sounds like a lot of folks... I was at an event, networking, playing.
ohhhhhsnap - dude, at this point you need fb if you live on this planet. monitor your posts and set your privacy settings to what works for you.sea_sea

never had an account. i quit social networking when i saw how unproductive i became on friendster back in '02 . vowed never again.

at best i find it's just a way to stay connected to acquaintances i wouldn't otherwise be able to meet up with due to either not ever having time or they are out of country, etc.
it's handy for me to log in and scan my wall as i've mostly got it feeding from select friends and companies/orgs i want to stay updated on - thrasher, monster children, qbn (lol), bands, etc.
- so no plan to leave it as it's not more than a min or two of my time every other day. this place however...prophetone

never had an account, and I don't really buy that communication/keeping in touch thing...everyone say exactly that while they upload their new narcissistic pics and stalk young ladies...

FB is soooo 2011.
