Saw this; i'll be first in (digital) line... Been waiting for literally years...
Going to be a big jump up from my current 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo I've been beating the shit out of for years...
; )
Updating as well ernexbcn?
How do you not go with "ULTIMATE" option? haha... allegedly a "server grade" machine (whatever Apple determiens that to be in a post-pc world)...

dont care about towers anymore, when is the new macbook pro coming out!?

Rumour has it that at least 4 out of the 5 Mac product lines will have updates announced at WWDC.
I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Apple has it's entire line revamped with touch and Retina displays along with the Mountain Lion update.
- In other words fucking up the entire line for Pros by turning them into consumer clusterfucks.Amicus

No, I have a mid 2007 iMac that I'm hoping to replace early next year, I don't really need a Mac Pro but I know lots of you here do.

Where to next?
Amicus is on point above "I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Apple has it's entire line revamped with touch and Retina displays along with the Mountain Lion update."
Any device of theirs will be able to Airplay to any monitor under Mountain Lion & iOS already can; mobile devices controlling desktops and vice versa...

There were rumors of discontinuing the Pro line with the excuse of having Thunderbolt on the iMac, I think it's a good thing that it remains alive even if it's the one that sells the less, there are people that need these things.
- Indeed; I've been watching the refurbished stock come & go for a year now...ideaist

Fina-frickin-lee. Been waiting a couple of years and checking macrumors just about every other day.
Thought I read somewhere about an Apple 32-inch hi-dpi display rumor too. Hope that comes about.

ah..... my new "macpro tower" will be a hackintosh inside an old G5 case... bang per buck and the shiny aluminum impresses clients.... able to do this only because the macpro towers haven't visually changed in ages... no way I'm spending $4k on a tower computer...

I am curious why they still use the pricey xeon's. Is it primarily for dual processor options. All i know of xeons is the error checking ram that goes with them? And something about graphic processes without a dedicated GPU. Which seems pointless today. If its primarily for dual processor ability you think they'd pad the profit margins and offer a single processor with cheaper ram that still performs great and xeon-error checking ram prices. Wish i knew their thinking on that, because i bet people who love apple would still eat it up.

Sweet! Great news. We're decking out a new suite later this year and had the feeling Apple were going to ditch their pro line.

"In early 2011, we reported on some of the work that Apple engineers had been prototyping up for a future version of Apple’s Pro desktop line. For that report, sources said that Apple had been experimenting with a new Mac Pro design that is rackable and stackable. These prototype machines also included space for more storage drives, an important feature now that the Xserve has been long discontinued. With a year having passed since we heard about these prototype Mac Pros and the ability of Thunderbolt to offload a lot of the expandability, the final new Mac Pro designs could be different than the current designs but we haven’t yet heard definitively either way."
interesting...

Apple believes the pro game is bullshit and if you want to get serious you should by a linux and build your own custom software.
- of course, that's what they've been saying for years... dumbassmonospaced

If you cannot build your own software they want you to use instagram and stfu

Rumored to be Sandy Bridge, 8-core Xeon E5 CPUs, Thunderbolt & USB 3.0

Stoked. Facing a 13 hour render tonight and don't want to use our RenderRocket credits just yet. This machine will get it done while I drink/eat/sleep/run/cycle to work. Excited for the new models, and the new creatives that will enjoy them.

Not today.
