Looks pretty confusing.

needs simpler UI, i had no idea what i was doing until after really thinking about it.. only reason i gave it so much time is cuz it came from a QBNer... so i knew it must have some merit. If i stumbled across it on my own, i woulda been outta there fast.

Hey guys, Maciek here, the designer of The Eshu Games. Just wanted to pop on here (highjacking friends account) and say thanks for the feedback. Lot's of useful points.
We're just a team of two (only one coder) and a lot of this stuff is in the list for when we can get around to it
To address a couple of the points:
Registering users - Yah, it's bad that you must sign up, we were going to have a focused design push around integration and sharing in a couple of months.Landing page cluster-bomb/unclear CTAs - Yes, basically, it's a problem. I think we're going to start addressing this on the weekend, make it clearer etc. We're also designing a hints and tips type thing for new users (hopefully something that isn't too intrusive). That having been said, it does need to work without the help of helpers (remember our old friend the paperclip in old office).
Basic navigation structure - one of the tricky things with this site is that it's actually an app in the making. I think a lot of the interactions would make more sense in an app type environment like a tablet (i.e. it's modal). What this means is that it's currently some sort of hybrid between web and app. This is always going to be a problem, but we'll try clarify through making the 'overlays' enter and exit the screen from the same place.
'Games' - Yah, we had long chats about the use of this term and decided to risk it. It's really important to us that we get this idea across (currently failing) that making things is the game. Making good design, taking good photos etc doesn't have to be work it can be play. So we'll be introducing the catchphrase 'The game is in the making' to the home screen (along with other changes). Oh, and we've gone beta just in time for 'the games' of a very different sort, those of an olympic kind.
Doodle - really like the idea of navigating between doodles in the doodle space itself.
To the user who said she/he couldn't use the doodle. What was the problem exactly? As far as I know it just asks you to sign up/in if you want to submit a doodle and haven't done so.
I'm not going to bore y'all anymore, we've got plenty to get on with. All in all it's been a good start to the user testing, only two days in and a lot of activity and chatter. So we're pretty happy. But good lord has it been stressful (does the stress ever end?).
Thanks again for the feedback

does not load; opera 12, windows 7.

It's not intuitive enough for my liking, I didn't read the instructions and now I'm faced with a photograph which disappears/reappears when i click on it???

definitely needs better (SIMPLER) explanation and UI
once you get into it, it's fun and can see it getting better the more people take part and upload photos - as for the moment its just the same 10 photos going round and round in different pairs.Url is too long and forgettable too
get something short and snappy, something related to "pictures"
www.picatu.com is available BTW

My impressions as they come:
• I don't know what the main call to action is. Where do I go first?
• Is this a site for golf?
• I'm being asked for too much here. I have to go get stuff to play?
• Many, many cardinal game design rules in engaging players are just outright ignored within the first min.
• I (somehow) know this is a game, so the first thing I want to do is learn what the rules are.
• In games, you answer "What are games?". Why the fuck would I not know what that is unless it's different than the rest of the world's definition. If that's the case you lost me because I think that's just stupid.
• Again, you should stop calling them games since your engagement is just submitting and waiting for something.
• When I want to submit a doodle, I can't but you don't tell me why I can't
• I have no sense of place in the site. You put an X on the top right sometimes, making me think I'm "inside" something and can use the x to close out, but close out to where? You need a better implied hierarchy.
• Eh that's all I have now. I'm going back to programming my video game.

Nice feedback, guys. Thanks.
Yeah there are arguments to most of these points or just a lack of solution, but in terms of getting new people intantly engaged, I think many compromises are necessary.
One major argument is fuck new users, this is more something to get engaged in. But without hoardes of other (new) users it will be pretty boring.
Hopefully most of your points will be addressed on release.
