Plice open fire with live rounds on a mob of protesters, killing 10
Fuck me it's like 1973 all over again. Only this time it's less black and white who is to blame.

Likewise, not condoning, I think they should have been using rubber bullets as before.
But before getting on the press band wagon of it being a slaughter, just imagine being there and having a mob run at you with machettes, sticks and guns.
Either way its a very sad event in our beautiful country- sorry, just to be clear, they should not have been using live rounds.whereRI
- Rubber bullets ARE rubber-covered-bulle... It's live ammunition.mikotondria3

No idea the background to this but not the smartest move charging police armed with automatic weapons.

I'm from a mining town in Poland where in the 1980s a few people got killed during strikes by the police. (i was just a kid and my mother made me pray at the birch cross the strikers raised at the places where the miners got killed - just to say "fuck you" to the system). The few deaths that helped ignited the Solidarity movement to topple the corrupt system. Back then it was communism. How the same is not happening now - i have no idea.
- same not happening in poland or SA?ebertzjaw
- Same as in "toppling the regime that's corrupt"pr2
- well, for starters, south africa is not a 1980s communist east block country...sine
- these miners are employed by private companies. they don't work for the state...sine
- this has nothing to do with politicssine
- "this has nothing to do with politics" - are you naive?pr2
