    #1 - rent an RV - cruiseamerica.com

    I travelled 30 of the 50 states over a 6 month trip, each and every state varied and had so much to offer its really hard to single out any particular highlights as it was sincerly the best time of my life.

    My only recommendation would be to skip the trains and drive yourself, stay in the various KOA camps that are scattered throughout the country in some of the most amaing places. wow. what a country.

    ^ Cruise America, highly recommend if you can afford it. This is a very popular and easy way to do the type of trip you're planning... probably THE way. Do it.

    Also, no one has mentioned Big Sur yet... between LA and SF. One of the most magical places on the California Coast.
