It looks like Google is on the roll.
The specs of the newly announced Chromebook Pixel are impressive. Especially the 2560 x 1700, at 239 PPI, 400 nit screen & 178° extra-wide viewing anglehttp://www.google.com/intl/en/ch…
Although $1,300 price tag makes me think twice

i know apple have the ipad, but they seriously dropped the ball on being one of the first with a laptop touchscreen..

Add Google Chromebook to the growing list of EPIC Google failures!
FFS Google make your search engine work!
- It's the #1 selling notebook, I think.monospaced
- in the amazoncraigatkinson
- so it sells to people who live in the rainforest more than any other laptop?vaxorcist

can i run adobe on this?
- ukit20
I don't think so, it only runs web apps doesn't it?

better off get a 4,1 refur macbook pro or unibody 17" display etc much better etc.

compare this to the chrome book.

It looks like a sexy, fast machine, but what's the use of all that power without the large apps that go along with a mainstream operating system?
- this. if it doesn't run adobe products, i can't make the switch.lvl_13
- You could get a MacBook Air, save money, do everything a PC/Mac does, PLUS have Google browsermonospaced
- but sacrifice resolution and touchscreenmonospaced
- the touchscreen is the aha factor for me though.lvl_13

One commenter on the Wired article wrote: "1300 bucks for a dang browser. WTH." I kinda agree.

Looks like a seriously awesome piece of hardware.
But the fact that it runs the Chrome OS is severely limiting. Like you guys have said, so much power wrapped in a nice machine that is essentially a glorified web browser.

I like how YouTube is considered a "feature"
Pixel's bright and colorful high resolution display makes videos on YouTube more stunning and engaging.

I mostly use my Macbook for development. Most of the apps I use are web apps, so this can be a really good setup for me. I was seriously considering upgrading my now 2 years old Macbook to the upcoming version in June, but now I might consider GPixel.
I like that it has 1 terabyte of free space for 3 years & 200 mgbs/months LTE Verizon

How would you develop without an FTP program? Or nice code editing software etc
- zaq0
All I need is Github, c9.io, Trello & a browser and I am set.
It allows me to use my setup on any computer, not only on Pixel- wprd up. Only thing I'd add is http://jetstrap.com/…sherm

Google is the new Apple. Deal with it.

Can you hackintosh it?
- for that price why bother? but i was thinking the same thing. if it were like $800 it would be more sexy timesprophetone
- For the price it's a good idea to hackintosh. It's like the Air + Retina + touchscreenmonospaced
- yeah true but at that price i would just get a macbook pro and call it a day, just meprophetone

Meh not cool enough.

people are lazy. why would I lift my arm to potter around the screen when I can use the touchpad or a mouse more conveniently. also greasy smear stains.
- same reason why touchscreen phones and tablets have failed, people hate touching themmonospaced
- lol_niko
- you didn’t get my point mono. laptop – mobile device = two different conceptspressplay
- see Leighs post further down... he quotes Steve Jobs. You like Steve Jobs, don’t you, mono.pressplay
- I don't know Steve jobs so I could never say I liked him. But the line is blurring between phones and computers.monospaced
