I'm new to Muse and trying to create a site whose functionality is similar to this: http://www.kenleyeventdesign.com…
I understand I will be using anchor tags to move the site to the different sections. I need to know more about the basic setup. I built the site for approval as a PSD and it's 1280x5600. How do I set it up? How do I keep imags as the background in certain sections and a white background in others?
Thank you.

Use master pages to create one with a photo background and one with a white one. Use the background "fill" to select an image and how it tiles, if appropriate. From the masters you can also set the minimum page height and so on.

I'm guessing you'll probably have to convert the psd to html first? That's done through Save for Web in PS. Then open it up in Muse to add interactivity?
I haven't tried this so it's all speculation.
- no, he can just design it in Muse just like he would in InDesign, super fast, with no conversion necessarymonospaced
- I use Muse a lotmonospaced

But to make it like the page you referenced, it's really just a single page, designed as-is, with anchors in the menu that jump to scroll points. Much simpler and might not even need multiple master pages if it's a single page site.

Was that site done in Muse?

I've been tempted to play with it. Those of you who have used it already, is it good? worth it?
- YES, but it's still limited in what it can do and how much the widgets can be tweaked.monospaced

I have it and haven't really had a chance to use it either...especially since most of the projects we're doing lately all need to be responsive. and as far as i know, muse doesn't really handle that.... I've just spent the morning playing with Edge Reflow...and it's promising, but still not quite there...when you're used to just flying in photoshop and putting a design together very quickly, using some of these tools feels incredibly slow....drives me crazy when you have these excellent tools like 'CSSHat' where you get really useful LESS or CSS code straight out of photoshop....wish there was a button or addon or plugin that would just finish the job and give you the rest of the code so you could pop THAT into Edge Reflow and then start planning your different mobile views....now THAT would be useful

I have been playing with Muse for a couple months now. This product seems geared toward designers like myself: traditional print designers who are used to InDesign and don't know enough to design and code a website by themselves. It's based on master pages and widgets to add menu systems (auto updating based on pages) and other kinds of content. HTML is cut and paste (fucking unbelievable) to add things like YouTube videos and Google Maps (among other things), and it's a true WYSIWYG design.
I have been reading a lot about Muse and how it is being received by our industry. Web gurus absolutely hate it, saying it creates sloppy code, but it seems like they're really just mad that designers don't need to use them. It's hard to tell, but for me it's a godsend.
Within a couple of hours I had 3 entire website concepts in a single document using master pages to define each. Anchored objects, interactive everything, quick previews in Adobe Content Viewer or ANY browser of your choice, and really, really fun and simple and powerful to use.
I know most people here will rip it apart, saying it's not "real" web design, but I actually think it's brilliant.
- thanks mono...thats a pretty good review....I'll give it a try as well :)exador1

Another amazing part about Muse is that you can design your site for various sizes (not QUITE responsive) within the same document, just like you would with DPS. I think they call it Liquid Layouts, and it does a damn good job converting things for you to get you started.
