really this whole debate is a bit mute..
Ableton kills both Protools and Logic.- Only for those that are comfortable with it, not everyone likes the same thing in terms of DAW.sem

Logic has Sculpture. Therefore, in my opinion, it beats all other DAWs.

But, granted, everyone has their favorites. I used to have ProTools. I've had Reason for quite awhile, and Logic, and I vastly prefer Logic over those two.
I liked Reason a lot until they added all the audio recording and it got so fucking huge to scrawl around and there were 600 million controls for every little thing. I hate how there is all that stuff on the channel strips. Why not just add an EQ or a compressor when you need one? Why have 900 knobs there that you might never fiddle?
- this is exactly why i've stayed away from reason. tooooo much.prophetone

Agreed that the Reason mixer shouldn't force the EQ chain etc on every channel, it does make it more busy than needs be.
Though they are emulating hardware when it comes to visuals though so guess thats why...guess most are beyond hardware now though and just want a simple GUI with options to expand if and when needed.
As for Logic X, I've still not upgraded, and don't plan on doing it for a bit as I don't wanna jump into it and cut out the 32bit plugins I use. Waiting till they got 64 as the new changes in X are not good enough for me to wave bye to some amazing plugins...I mean, drummer? no...just no Apple.

Question for Logic users regardless of version.
If you're recording a stereo track into Logic (in my case, effects pedals with stereo out) do you prefer to record a single stereo track, or two separate mono tracks? Kind of trying to decide which sounds better and feel like I get a distinctly better sound out of two mono tracks with each track panned left/right 25%.

ltjohnrambo,
Let me know which songs of mine you were asking about the guitars. If it's on my band's album, that's all amp reverb, likely on both a tube amp and a solid state, in stereo.
If it's stuff of my own, I can take a look at the tracks in Logic and let you know. I'm addicted to reverb, lushness with several guitar parts and a lot of ambience to them. On one of those solo tracks, there's a ton of Micron synth with delay and reverb in Logic.

Is anyone else currently using Logic X having a problem with sustain on midi tracks dropping out randomly when you're looping something? I just upgraded last week, and there's no explanation for what's happening. Something might be looping, and on the third or fourth loop, certain notes within just play without sustain applied. Sustain is at 127 the entire time. It's making me Hulk level angry.

Here's a good resource for Logic questions:

Much better than the Apple forums, IMHO.
