There you go. A little shaky but good game none the less. Good level of aggression. Americans finally learning to fall on contact.

I've got some questions about this thing:
1. Does it take place over about a month?
2. What's the smallest number of days between a team playing? (looks like US is off till the 22nd for their next game)
3. Do all team members stay in the host country between their games?
4. I keep hearing people say "if the US moves out of group G." Does that simply refer to them winning, or do you move to a different letter group based on winning? Really can't figure this part out.
5. Did they use a new ball this year or same one as before? I know there was a controversy in a recent world cup about the ball being radically different.- 1. Yes
2. usually 5 days (at group stage) lowest number: 3 days (between 2nd semifinal and finald_gitale - finald_gitale
- 3. usually yes...
4. it means progressing from their group into the round of 16 (first knock out stage)d_gitale - 5 since the last world cup, the ball is not stitched anymore, but gluedd_gitale
- sorry, lowest number ofdays between games is 3 between 2nd semi and consolation matchd_gitale
- 1. Yes

1. yes
2. around 5 days but could be more
3. yes but i suppose if they lived in a nearby country they can go there as well
4.top 2 teams from each group move on to the knockout stage, single elimination format games.
5.new ball every time, huge cash grab for adidas or whoever the ball maker is.

Another question: I thought that games were 90 minutes total. Why did the US game go past 90 minutes? I'm watching a replay right now and the time is at 94 minutes with US winning 2 - 1.
- since the clock is continuously ticking, any time play stops, it gets added onto the end. approx.jaylarson
- jeeeeez. have you never ever watched a game?iCanHazQBN
- He obviously hasn't that's why he's asking these very basic questions. Instead of writing bullshit about baseball being better.ORAZAL
- ... base being better. I respect that.ORAZAL
- Welcome mg33!!!!
OSFA - I've never been too into it... but starting to think it looks interesting.mg33
- It is. It's all about getting over that "I hate soccer" idea.

Qatar will make playing in Brazil seem like Antartica.

Soccer is kind of like The Beatles for me: I guess I'm indifferent to it because I never really got into it, but have no reason to hate it.
The thing I like about soccer at a high level - and especially from what I know if it in Europe, it is AWESOME the way people follow and support their teams. There aren't any sports in the United States that are near religious in terms of followers and fans on the same level soccer is in other countries. I think that's really cool.
I also learned several years ago about all the leagues in Europe, how entire tournaments stop down so people can switch teams and play in other tournaments and leagues, then they regroup. And the way that one of the leagues work where the bottom two finishers or whatever drop out of that league to some other league, and the top two from the lower league move up to the higher league. Something about that is very cool from a competitive sense.
- It really is a great game, of not a little slow at times. Slightly ruined by all the diving but great none the lessset

What I don't like though, and what annoys the shit out of me, are the number of people who glom onto the world cup that probably couldn't even tell you what shape the ball is, because all the do is glom on for a reason to go to a bar and get hammered.

mg33 some people will never understand that this is way more than just a game or sport :( If you ever get a chance to go to a real game - (not MLS of course) do it! It'll give you a different perspective and you'll experience what TV is unable to capture. Passion. I've been to many games here in the US and nothing, not baseball, basketball or football comes close to how you live a soccer game...
And when it comes to 'fans', Argentinians, to me, are the best in the world. To those of us who grew up in "soccer countries", this gives us chills...
- At "real games" fans also enjoy doing monkey chants when players from Africa touch the ball. Argentina i believe is exempt.wagshaft

- And you're gonna tell me that there is absolutely ZERO racism or gay hate in baseball, basketball, football games???OSFA
