Missing Images in Keynote 09

Have been working on presentation for the last week and a half. I was literally wrapping up the last slide when the program started freaking out and ultimately quit on me. Opened back up and am now getting a ton of "Missing Image" warnings so now my presentation is just a heap of grey boxes with question marks. Similar to missing link warnings in ID. Thing is, I can't figure out how to "relink" the missing files as I know where all of them are located.

I've been googling like crazy and can't seem to come up with anything that works.

If anyone has experienced this and knows a solve I would REALLY appreciate it.

    Time Machine back-up?

    No Time Machine backup, unfortunately.
I did have a version from earlier in the day that wasn't too far off as a last resort.

The right-click + show backup method sorta worked only I had to find a work around as that option doesn't appear when right clicking (think that might have been an option on older versions of pages/osx).

In case anyone finds themselves stuck in a similar position, here's what I did:

Go to the Finder and find your Keynote, select it and command+I to view info

Change the extension to .zip and then "use .zip" in the dialog box that comes up.

Double click the new .zip file and it will unpackage itself.

Open the folder and you will see all the files that make up your Keynote File. Copy and paste in the "missing" files. Pay attention to file names as Keynote will sometimes add a -1, -2 etc to the end of the file.

Close the folder and add .key to the end of the name and click Add in the dialog box (this will change it back to a Keynote file).

this is what has worked for us in the past, depending on the version of keynote you're in:
1- save a new file as an iwork '08 file or check "save new documents as packages" in Keynote preferences
2- in the finder right click on your keynote file and show package contents
3- replace bad image files in this window with good ones, close window
4- cross fingers and open new keynote file

    or

projects go a lot quicker the 2nd time around
