Nikon had such and opportunity but completely choked.
So much so, that I'll be selling my D800 and getting a Sony A7R as soon as there are more (fast) glass.Someone made a huge error over at Nikon. Good idea, horrible execution.

Oh, dear. Kai Wong isn't flattering this camera. At all, and he's a Nikon guy.

I'm upgrading to a D600 (possibly D610, but price is getting nice on D600s now) as soon as I'm working again. Love the looks of this camera but I'd rather pick up an old film camera for black and whites and re-learn a lot of manual photography. For approx $100 I can get an old Olympus or Nikon and achieve full, legit, retro glory.

Hmmm, $2750 for a D4 like camera w/out video and only 39 focus points. Yeah, sounds fun, but I'll take a D800 any day.

$2800 for 16.2 mp? Sorry, but I'll keep my D800, thanks.
Next up will be a Sony a7r - same resolution, lighter, more compact, nice styling.
(I think if Nikon Rumors are correct, this thing is dead in the water. If it were $1500, maybe)
- mp isn't that important.pango
- Is to me. I like being able to crop.
They aren't everything, but they do countformed - mp aren't that important until you see what 36mp is like on a d800. fucking incredible with good lenses.jaylarson

Not liking it - really beefy with over kill of controls. It even has a bloody LCD on the top. Sigh. Give me shutter, exposure comp and aperture thanks - simple and quick, just like the FM2.
I feel Nikon where nervous on making this for some reason and thought they better thrown every thing at it.
