^ The Grand Designs Northern Ireland guys house was beautiful.
My favourite part is the window in the corridor that looks out onto the rockface behind.

Doesn't look that nice, thoformed - This isn't a "cheap" solution, though, you could build this w/o any containers just as easilyformed
- no gutters?ohhhhhsnap
- flat roofs drain to a corner (slopped on top), there is a small parapet of sorts. It would just look horrible with gutter!formed
- much cheaper than any conventional house to build by at least 40%.organicgrid
- No way. Show me the numbers. The prefab I've worked on was comparable in every aspectformed

Project we did end of last year. Cut up an old shipping container and posted it into this shop...

These actually cost more to build than just custom fabricating a steel enclosure to looks like a shipping container. (cutting/modifying/retrofitting are expensive). The only reason you'd do this is if you needed to prep a unit and truck it out to the middle of nowhere because labour would be too expensive where you need to build. In which case you might as well just buy a portable. Also, they are like 7' tall inside the insulated ones.
