Creating an app

Why even bother using those tools to do a native ios app? Just make a website that responds to swipes and shit.
You could probably do something really simple and use one of these conversion programs, but it's going to be a fuck ton slower than something wrote in Objective-C.

It would help if you were clearer about the type of "app" you want to build. A 3D game is going to use a lot different tech than a browsing app. If you need performance, like a game, you pretty much have to go native code. If you just need to save a website/webapp as an 'app', then phonegap might be a good approach.
Adobe Air might be worth looking at as well.

@Masterramos
is it a very complex project for someone like me who never code anything before? Iam learning jQuery and Javascript since only 4 days. Do you think its a very complex thing to start or I should make something easier at first?

@benfal99 creating the font-end and adding/deleting items to a list should be fairly straightforward with HTML/javascript but you'll have to somehow store the information in a database and probably create user account etc which is where it would get more tricky

It is more complicated than it looks if all you know is basic HTML and some jQuery. You will probably need to learn some kind of web framework in order to handle the saving and display of data. I would pick a language and framework you like (i.e. some PHP framework, Ruby on Rails, Django, etc) and focus on learning the basics first. The easiest project will not be this, but rather creating a simple content-based website since that is what most of these frameworks are based around.

app like to-do list and some really simple app like those.

What program are you guys using to code on Windows ? Is Dreamweaver good ?
- i have used it for years , others notepad + , php stromBattleAxe
- one of our backend engineers uses php storm.bulletfactory

This is Wunderlist :
I would like to create a website that do the exact same thing, but more simple. A simple to do list. The actions would be 'create new task' / 'delete task' / 'set a due date' / 'order by due date'
Can i code that only using html-css +jquery/javascript? Will i also need PHP to keep the data in a database?

Check out http://livecode.com/
I've been considering giving it a go.
It's meant to make programming apps a WHOLE lot easier!

i use intel app framework (very jquerybly) and you can generate html and css online (http://appstarter.app-framework...
for building use build.phonegap.com

Was talking to one of our techies and he reckoned that if you use an app to pull in external html (like i think Cordova does) it will run slower than a true app equivalent.
- ohbenfal99
- It's true, but it depends of how much DOM elements you have.Masterramos

You can use iTunes University to learn proper coding, Stanford has great classes to get you started.
