Please refrain from using the term EDM...it makes you sound like a babyfaggotI disagree, using the term EDM is fine, it's a great way to identify the small spectrum of electronic music that focuses on commercial reach.
Not recognizing its existence is fine on an individual level, but it's there, like it or not. It's like saying ed-hardy or coors light

Deadmau5 does some great songs

"... it's almost like they are trying to outdo themselves and prove to everyone that you really don't need talent to make $$$$"
That was proven a long time ago! It's easy to rip on electronic music given the history of the genre and the elite attitude of a lot of musicians but all genres of music suffer from talentless hacks making a killing. I think it comes down to marketing, showmanship and trends.

Yea agree. seldom and few but I think Deadmau5 had one great track with Strobe in terms of composition and build. Even the piano rendition is good.

I'm sure all 3 of them are really nice people (actually, i know that deadmouse is a dick) but listening to them as a reference for electronic music is like listening to avril lavigne or blink 182 as a reference for punk rock

I actually like Skrillex's work.
And on a technical level he's got some serious skills. As for DM, I'm not really aware of his work enough to comment, but I do like this

If you like the music, you like it, if you don't, you don't.
I despise the Chainsmokers 'Selfie', but give me the instrumental version, it fucking rocks.

I am one of the few people that LIKE music having genres?
I don't understand why people get so stressed about it? so it was called 'fartpopwizbass' when you wanted it to remain anon...don't let it bother you just enjoy the music.
Plus when something is given a more defining title it helps me find more of what I like. I think if anything I get frustrated when things are not broken down enough, for example the Trap scene. For me Trap music started in the south with rappers, but apparently Trap is now also the moombahton/dirty dutch inspired hip hop stuff also.
I quite like sub dirs :P

Not having genres is like saying 'any colour that looks slightly blue should just be called blue' then moaning when someone paints your house turquoise.
