Send them a check. It's some of the best money you'll spend.

Tune in everyday instead of listening to music in the car

well organized, deep content, well archived, well curated, good, good, good.

Possibly the most informative and occasionally entertaining thing left on US airwaves, only just beating out the Daily Show...

Something everyone should listen to.

They used to have good wrestling coverage, but those days are over.

It's pretty much all I listen to in the car.
- It's quite a shame that no other radio station has been able to riff off the npr format. Its all top 40 repetitive noise pollution.dorkKn1ght
- That and those wacky morning zoo DJs. Those zany characters and their awesome stunts. =)DRIFTMONKEY

pretty much where all my news comes from

NPR is quality listening. Occasionally on a Sat afternoon in the car I'll catch a snoozer program but 95% of the time it's really well produced, informative, and entertaining radio.

This American Life, Fresh Air, Diane Rhem, Science Friday, Talk of the Nation (RIP), Radiolab, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me...
I love NPR, have been a loyal listener for over a decade, and I give them a little money every month as a Sustaining Member.

I like several of their shows, like This American Life, Fresh Air, and Radiolab. The Moth is frequently really good, and really funny. But several of their shows are pretty dreadful. Like Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I think that's awful.
I think the Diane Rhem show is just another left/right adversary show. Yeah, the people are civilized, but there doesn't really seem to be an effort to look at anything but the opposing points of view--even when one point of view is crazy or not credible.
- i love Wait Wait. But i usually listen to podcasts and since it's topical, it becomes outdated quite quicklylocustsloth
- Tom Ashbrook of On Point is probably the most even handed and fair host i've ever heard on a talk showlocustsloth

I guess the reason I asked coming from a hispanic background and new to NYC and not having a liberal arts degree or something that relates to it, I've been meeting a lot of people and learning new stuff a lot of them listen to NPR and I began to see a pattern on the type of people that listen to that station. I thought let me check with the good people at QBN and see what they think. Thanks for the feedback!

Here in Miami you can listen to the Real Tracy Fields show ...best Jazz show...the lady knows her stuff.
It's very good...but if you listen a lot it gets repetitive.
Good shows:
This American Life
Fresh Air
Radiolab
MarketPlaceThe weekends can be dreadful...those TERRIBLE game shows and Prarie Home Companion...oh lord.
Diane Rhem's voice is just too unsettling to listen to
