Etc...
It's nice to see individuals/groups trying to take Adobe head on, albeit none are a true contender quite yet (unless anyone can suggest something else or vouch for Affinity)?

The company behind Affinity has a number of other products positioning it to compete head-to-head with Adobe:

It doesn't support bleed yet.
- Really? That's a massive oversight.Nathan_Adams
- It's on their future feature list. Seems pretty basic though.i_monk

Actually, it looks like it has a lot more useful features than Adobe.

I've been kicking the tires on this the last couple days... using it more and more, PS less and less... it's only a matter of time.

Has anyone made the transition to these wholesale from Adobe? Is there a steep learning curve?
I've been thinking of getting Both Photo and Designer and ditching PS and Ill for good...

Oooh!

Fuck you, Adobe - this is what happens when you sit on your laurels and charge through the nose for products that have fundamentally not changed in a decade.
.*Signs up to beta, hovers finger over CC cancellation for the rest of the year*

As I'm interested in opening activity as Graphic Designer and to start doing some freelancing work in Germany so I'm considering to buy Affinity products.
I can not afford Adobe CC so...
Thing is that there's no alternative to Indesign...Scribe is not that good.
Any recommendations?
Would be awesome if Affinity released some Affinity Book or Affinity Publish...How about an alternative to Android Acrobat?
I tried Affinity Designer for the second time yesterday.
Had tried it a couple of months ago.Feels good.
- Not Scribe but Scribus.oey
- And I know one can also use Scribus as a PDF tool.oey
- I believe one is in development...
there is:
http://www.serif.com…mugwart - I'm on Mac and I believe it's in its way to us!
;)oey - Adobe CC apps are (still) easily cracked - don't let the online stuff throw you. I pay my 500kr pcm, but learned with moody pirate versions 20yrs ago.face_melter
- I started using Adobe products while in college. 1996. Still using pirated versions today. Current Adobe CS6.oey
- I had an old boss who got into a scuff with a coworker who red flagged his pirated CS software; he was fined $10,000. I'm now a "square" who pays; love it.ideaist
- ...You can also get JUST InDesign for US$19.99/mo, which isn't terrible (case of beer-ish).
: )ideaist - If I get enough work to pay that I'm okay with it. It's an option.oey
- Good tip. Was aware of it but thanks anyway. It's good to hear other peoples view on the matter.oey

It's a pretty good substitute for the price.
But some features that are sorely missing for me are distort transform, and smart objects.

Windows Beta by the end of the month? Woohoo!
If I can start a count-down to getting away from fucking Adobe, I'd really appreciate it.
I'd quite happily hobble myself with my old copy of CS2 Photoshop and Illustrator if it means I can get off fucking CC and I can reinstall Scriptographer...
- OH! Affinity are British too?
OOOH, All's the better, then!detritus - you know that scriptographer can run on cs5 right?imbecile
- I don't have a copy of that. Well, a legit one, anyway.detritus
- ah, i didn't want you thinking you needed to go all the way back to cs2 for compatibility. I won't do cc either.imbecile
- Can't wait till Adobe gets serious competition.mugwart

I really ought to invest more time in learning/using these.
