Explain to me why this is much more convenient than my phone which I can already hold in my hand without any wires. Are people going to be staring at their watch all day now?
- nb0
Get the belt buckle attachment for your iWatch and you can just be huddled over looking at your crotch all day.

Could ask the same question of anyone making a "smart" watch.

- add a shitty button on the side and bingo!trooperbill
- you talkin' to me?
...well i'm the only one here.sarahfailin

iPhone needs to be connected. Not interested (also it looks just like Samsung's watch), also would never guy anything that is gold plated!
Too bad, was thinking they'd have something groundbreaking.

Apple glasses coming soon, so you don't have to bother looking at your wrist either.

Fuckin useless. You really wanna worry about recharging your watch every day too?
- nopeprophetone
- Just charge everything together. Battery life is one of the worst things about all these smart techologies though.Jaline

This question has been asked a million times. As the technology improves, more people will wear it.
I'll repost:
- Don't have to fumble around with the phone or worry about it slipping out of your hands (particularly while running or doing something where a phone isn't going to impede your activity too much).
- You can check notifications at a glance on your watch during meetings and social events without getting your phone out and making it really obvious, and choose whether or not you want to open them.
- I can tell the watch where I want to go, and as I bike it will vibrate whenever I have to make a turn. Much more safe and quick than stopping on the side of the road or sidewalk to check directions.
I'm sure there will be more later.
- Might as well just make glasses.omahadesigns
- There are a million things it will do. Remember where you parked, help you out with fitness, etc.Jaline
- This will sell by the buckets.Jaline
- ah - so the same as other products already on the market?fadein11
- Yeah, except it looks better and is more thought out.Jaline
- Look. If the other products were as good people would start massive threads about them and they would be selling.monospaced
- Looks good? I think it looks like one of those transformer watches from the 80s. Also none of these examplesmarychain
- Seem like legitimate concerndmarychain
- I like apple...but they have lost the plotmarychain

we are in the hater stage now. we've seen this with the mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad when the first were announced.
- er - not sure thats true regarding all your examples - all great game changing products - these are not.fadein11
- but this isn't new, it's the same as all the other watches, big difference...those others were newformed
- True, it's funny to read reaction to the iPad when first announced, people here hated it.ukit2
- everyone hate each of these products when announced.ArmandoEstrada
- is true. hate hate hate on the internet is the way of all things apple.inteliboy

Don't worry about the gold edition and smaller sizes. Some people like those...particularly female bloggers and those in the tech industry (just opinions I've read in the past hour). Much better than having just one huge watch style for everyone. They're always masculine and made for people with large wrists.
- "Bloggers"omahadesigns
- Apple is very smart to market to different audiences. Tackle the regular folks (both men and women), AND the watch collectors.Jaline

If someone got a notification on a digital watch during a meeting I'd stop the meeting right there!
Gold - maybe some will, but it diminishes the quality of the overall device (imho). Omega or Rolex will never make a "plated" gold watch. Just screams cheap (again, imho).
Eventually it'll be something useful...when it can separate from the phone and is about 1/4 or less in size (I would never run with a watch, or mtn bike with a watch, but I would with a Fitbit).
I am sure it will sell, just like the Moto 360 is sold out, but it isn't any different than the competition, that's the point, I think.
Someone will nail it, someday, but this ain't it. Great opportunity for the competition.

- pitch a tent on your wristWeyland
- At least it looks like a watch. But none look good, imho.formed
- Who says it has to look like a classic watch? At least Apple has the design part more down than anyone else. Except Pebble.Jaline
- Pebble, who are going for simplicity and long battery life.Jaline
- The bottom portion is a light sensor, I believe.ETM
- It is, but it looks bad.Jaline
- Take your subtle Anarchy propaganda elsewhere, Jaline!stoplying
- Square and rectangle watches are much more practical for notifications, images, etc. I think Apple did quite a bit more research than people think.Jaline

Love the hate for something that isn't even out.
- I think what you'll find people hate is the excessive fawning just cause a gadget has an apple logo on it.marychain
- ESKEMA0
As I understood, notifications only make a tiny tactorial tap on the wrist, it only displays it if you go for it. So, notifications in meetings will not be a problem because no one else other than you will know. I'm not a watch person, I hate having something strapped on my wrist so this isn't for me for sure, but it's the most well executed one I've seen so far.. The turn by turn will be huge among the disabled (blind people will jump at this like crazy).
- Stop with the rational, logical and well thought out responses. Please.monospaced

You could do this turn by turn stuff just as easily with your phone in your pocket. Vibrate once for left, twice for right. no wristband needed.
- So?monospaced
- so your argument is invalid, sirmonNom

- how is a girl in a skirt supposed to feel those cool vibrations you talk about?ESKEMA
- Yeah, because it's so easy for women to keep phones in their pockets. We have to carry a damn purse.Jaline
