He's stirring the pot as much as he can, and that's a good thing. Corporations have overrun the world, more or less. The tax system is completely broken, the breaks the wealthiest and corp's get I don't think any sane person could argue is fair.
The system is broken on most fronts, the middle class is being annihilated, something has to give at some point. Once there is a clear alternative, people will jump ship in droves. Problem is, lobbying and money continue to pull the strings and it just keeps getting worse.

stupid cunt

Surely people are going to tire of his shouty method of being interviewed pretty soon. He’s just a loud mouth patronising cunt. He talks about trust of those in politics and business etc but refuses to answer a straight question.
He is right in the sense that most people don't like injustice and nasty things but he needs to start adding a bit of depth to his rhetoric.

What an annoying attention whore wanker.

I prefer Elizabeth Warren's approach more.

megalomaniac noun \ˌme-gə-lō-ˈmā-nē-ə, -nyə\
1 : a mania for great or grandiose performance
2 : a delusional mental disorder that is marked by feelings of personal omnipotence and grandeur- I don't understand how you went to that extreme for someone who is simply passionate about some serious issuesmonospaced
- dont worry, Mono cant comprehend different motives in people he's like forest gump...yurimon
- I'm talking about the label megalomaniac you fuckin' mouth breathing preppermonospaced
- I'll stick with megalomaniac, thank you very much.organicgrid

I don't like him at all. Never did. But, the title in the beginning of the vid "Comedian and revolutionary" is hilarious. Plus him as Che in the background? C'mon. Court jester. Nothing more.

Everything he talks about, as Evan Davis says quite early in that interview, is piecemeal and of little consequence to the bigger picture. He has a vague idea of a better world and no real sense of what the reality of this means.
But that is not a crime; the main problem I have with Brand is he seems to think he is talking for the common man and that’s what I find vaguely offensive about him. He has never lived the life of the common man and can’t understand what the majority of people really believe. He’s been either a drama school drop out, a junkie, a celebrity or a rich celebrity. He was probably about 8 the last time he had similar hopes and dreams as the man on the street.
I think his ideas ignore the vast majority of people in the western world, those being people with jobs and homes who want to work for a living and enjoy the spoils of what they have earned. Yes, we can all admit to wanting the political system to change and corporations to be held far more accountable but to suggest that ‘most people’ don’t want figure heads running the countries anymore is just wrong.
What is he suggesting replaces the government? What happens when ‘we’ take back General Motors? Who is going to handle this infrastructure? Does he think that the single mums squatting in their council flats that he seems so fond of are going to take on the problem of renewable energy for all?
Creative Direct Action. Empty buzz words from a media whore.

I think, and you all need to listen because it's important what I think, I think he's alright. If someone is standing up and making conversation with a nation and making people think (whether or not they're thinking he's a cunt or that he has interesting chelp) is a good thing. Most people can't be arsed or don't have time to sit and research all the stuff he's getting all passionate and cross about, so let him do it for you. Either way, I don't think he's a wanker. You can surely see his heart is in the right place?

Russell definitely has an identity crisis on his hands. I am not sure if he is a: celebrity, actor, activist, comedian, and or a jester.
- why can't it be an evolution through all of those?
Ianbolton - Perhaps it is, I just don't believe his motives are sincere.organicgrid
- do you believe he's a living conspiracy theory?
Ianbolton - only insane people would think this jester was part of some special interest elite conspiracymonospaced
- you think people become famous by chance?yurimon
- he's a comedian and actormonospaced
- Why is Brand so concerned with the U.S.? Shouldn't he be trolling Brit's system?organicgrid
- I guess the dolt can't get media attention in the UK. - Fucking attention whore.organicgrid
- why can't it be an evolution through all of those?

I'm not an advocate of Brand but I'm not a hater. He is certainly a clever guy but he is a bit prone to using archaic bohemian language as a way to broadcast that he isn't thick. That said it still takes balls at least to have some form of crucially flawed ideology...flawed? yes. A bit naive. Yes...but still (to me) preferable to the shite mediocrity of celebrity that is 99% of our exposure...reality TV, shit baking programs...whatever...John Lydon's response also was great. Very incisive and deconstructing (from a man who says he never believed in anarchy even when he sang about it, and who also talks of age being a great educator). I'd rather have Russell Brands flawed but passionate pursuit than be without it personally. It's only actually a few weeks since a whole nation (Scotland) nearly succumbed to setting about on a new manifesto of independence based on ridiculously flimsy evidence of any assurance of success...but the world almost jumped on it with Spartacus-like fervour based on ignorance of fact (or worse alluded that those facts were a conspiracy).
- Brand at least elicited a great response from a figure of supposed 'anarchy' in Lydon.babaganush

check out the video of him speaking in parliament on government's response to drug abuse. enlightening, really, and fun to hear him counter arguments.
- < thisMorning_star
- The difference with that video is he is talking on a subject he is clearly knowledgeable on. He has a coherent set of ideas and communicates them well.Wolfboy

his ego aside, sounds like most of you don't like him because he's not a politician and because he was/is a celebrity. and you're happy with the current political environment.

I personally hate the way the Huffington Post take something and completely spin it to build hatred. They're almost like a new breed of Daily Mail with their sit-on-the-fence spin tactics.

At what point did he say "yeah, 9/11 was a cover up" he was just point out the fact who knows. Question everything. Be open to new ideas. Educate yourself.
- New media becoming 'trusted' media...babaganush

- ridiculous to rule out totally an openess to conspiracy...ffs the country dined out for half a decade on JFK conspiracies...then backtrackedbabaganush

He raises some relevant issues and isn't completely ignorant - fair enough. That said, millions of other people are thinking and talking about similar things. I'm sure there are many other people with greater understanding that would appreciate a fraction of the airtime that he gets.
The fact that he gets so much of it isn't, as he seems to think, because he's the only person capable of expressing these truths. It's because he's loud and famous and has a back-story and dresses and speaks like a strange Dickensian sex pest.
If there's a choice, Media will go with the strange Dickensian sex pest every time.
- also, see Farage. Lazy media construct, now out of control.Fax_Benson
- How are Farage and Brand similar? Farage is actually far more sinister and close to real powerbabaganush
- The middleaged media assumes that young people will listen to Brand because they are brain dead and he is a starbabaganush
- The fact is major parties never listened to the people and they are voting for Farage...oblivious to the fact that it happened in Nazi Germany only 70- years agobabaganush
- Nazi Germany only 70 years agobabaganush
- He's not naive enough to think he's not getting attention because he's famous, that's part of it. He's at least doing something he cares about.formed
- he's far more sinister and close to real power largely because the media made him the go-to voice for a particular debateFax_Benson
- "brain-dead and he's a star" - Ukip voters and FarageFax_Benson
- They made him a character of ridicule as opposed to a go-to voice of wisdom...they didn't think he woul d get anywhere near where he isbabaganush
- near where is is...and he is going further...babaganush
- But to be fair from a media standpoint I see your point. Although i think the motives and tactics don't bear comparisonbabaganush
- why would the media give airtime to someone who wasn't as flamboyant as he is?doesnotexist
