At least add functionality on the website so that we have the ability to: disable, remove or block threads that we do not want visible in our browser.
- 20020
^ that is pretty brilliant.
- instrmntl0
Vimeo, YouTube 16:9 that allows fullscreen. And blink/marquee tags. Thanks QBN!
- SteveJobs0
I mean ultimately it's up to the site owner(s), of course, but what's the point of QBN these days? General anything-goes forum or back to it's roots design-related and open community that garners the attention of industry giants, vets, and passionate, creative new blood alike?

I just got my moderator invitation email and I have just accepted!
Now I can finally get my REVENGE to all the ones who LAUGHED! Even if you didn't laugh, I know deep down inside you did, and it haunted me on every sleepless night of my life, but NO MORE! I feel all this power now! It's like a gun in my hands! Oh man, I can FEEEEEL it! Such POWER! My palms are sweating! My heart is RACING! And the voices have FINALLY stopped. The first thing I will do is un-ban utopian and send him an email of apology, then 5 minutes after he logs in, I will BAN HIM AGAIN! HAHAHA! The second thing I will do is add Vimeo embeds and block youtube and block everything else including text! Then I will ban EVERYONE that has better portfolios than me! So I will finally be the most awesome designer on QBN! There wont be anyone left after that, but WHO CARES! I will be THE KING! THE GOD! THE ONE! Moldy Akbar! All hail Moldy! Praise be to Moldy! Laugh, yes LAUGH! Enjoy your final brief moment of QBN pleasure at moldy's expense FOR THE LAST TIME! We will see who is laughing in the end.

I love those saying bring it back to the design discussion.
First, it has always been like this to a large degree. Back when it was NT, it wasn't that much different. Been here 12 years, so I have seen many iterations.
Also, what has stopped all you people wanting design discussions from creating and having design discussions? If what you offer is relevant or any interesting, a discussion will grow around it, regardless of other threads.
Perhaps many of the design discussions started are simply not that compelling or simply retread the same tired old questions and discussions we've had time and time again.
I know I don't come here to constantly teach someone the absolute 101 basics of CSS over and over again, and I sure don't want to come here to reassure print designers that they'll have a job in a few years or that learning to code is easy and that will be the answer to the ever changing industry. C'mon admit it, common threads or themes those are.
I do like logo and website critiques and some font discussions, but there is only so much to go around.
So in all seriousness, besides just calling for change and mods to magically fix this community, are there any REAL ideas on how to better capture the spirit of design and technology here? More than asking for Vimeo embeds and to fix https on Youtube links?
- yes, PSBattlesprophetone
- Yes, good! Those are good. Something mod directed in a steady schedule.ETM
- Totally agree with you on this ETM.ORAZAL
- Maybe what we need are hashtags. I'm on it!ORAZAL

^^^
Is it just a coincidence that the design community in general began to implode and self destruct when Flash died, templates and themes took over the web, print design more or less died and outsourcing became a global phenomenon.- no, the older design community started to die. youngens are fresh and alive in twitter etc2002
- I really just don't see any outstanding design out there, no where.organicgrid
- There are tons.2002
- Yeah, well than share it here.ETM
- You say there is tons, you complain about the content here. So... you see the answer?ETM
- jtb260
@ETM - I'm for more design discussions as well. I feel to some degree that we'd do well to have Public Choice promoted in the ux of the site. There's more that could happen there. If it were more centered in the design, and discussions of it pushed things to the top in the same way that topics on PV do I think it would increase the discussion and relevance of design on QBN.

Do we really come here to talk about design? Do we even want to?
I come here to read random thoughts and nonsense from designer/creative types --- opinions from people that I kind of do listen to and notice, as opposed to anywhere else on the internet. And the best stuff is about beat making or photography or documentaries --- not about websites or typography.

@2002
Calling you out, bro. Constantly complaining about crappy threads, not enough design yet:

you know the thought just occurred to me... design by committee. when was that ever a good thing?
really wish Jason, assuming he's still running things, would impart his vision and so we can all just follow suit... or not.
all this back and forth won't really result in anything other than underlining our own differences in values and visions for this site. idealist, realist, whatever you are, the guy who owns the domain and is paying the hosting fees - it's really his decision.

Do not pick me.

Why would anyone want to be a moderator?
Kind of like a soccer ref. It's a thankless job. People will get mad at you for stating that calling someone a cuntface won't move a discussion forward. On top of things you're probably doing it out of your own spare-time.
If you're ok with that I assume you've a chip on the shoulder, lots of chips, just want to be one because you'll go to town with the ban-hammer.
