Trump’s major achievement is empowering the truly stupid and stubborn crowd in this country to speak up. He’s empowered the ignorant. I’ve met so many of these people who say dumb things like, “I don’t care what they say, I’m...” and then they say the dumbest things. I’ve heard people argue that seatbelts kill more than they save. That motorcycle helmets do nothing to protect you. That god will protect them against anything.
And now, it’s the masks. The idea that Covid is fake. These people use to keep their opinions relegated to their backyard fires and smoke breaks and saloons. But Trump didn’t invent these folks. Trump has empowered them people to speak up. To say, “I don’t have to listen to anyone! You can’t make me! My opinion is all the facts I need!”
Stomping around shouting like little children. And in the next breath complaining that American opportunity has passed them by. I can feel sorry for these people, but it’s hard to empathize.
- The only positive thing I can think of is that these people with such ridiculous views are now being heard and contestedIanbolton
- Maybe we needed to go through this? I don't know. Either way, it's fucking mental!Ianbolton
- it's what happens when you import all your brains from abroad and don't have any of your own.scruffics
- trump is a product of america, not the other way round, to hate trump is to hate your country, to hate your country is perfectly healthy, better to address thekingsteven
- issue than to hope for a centrist president that allows it to perpetuate but with a rousing motivational speech.kingsteven
- Trump presidency. Never forget.nb
- Trump is sort of like a cult leader. Yes you need desperate or gullible people to start a cult, but not anyone can do it.yuekit
- America had plenty of problems before he came along but he is a uniquely bad influence on top of everything else.yuekit
- yeah, i don't mean 'he's a wealthy sociopath' i mean as president he's post-modernist constitutionalism manifest. reactionary conservatism battling liberalskingsteven
- with the same freedoms they hold dear. it's how america as a nation has excused its atrocities for years in a constant battle between the judiciary and liberalskingsteven
- but implemented as an individualist ideology as 'freedoms'.kingsteven
- Notice how there are similar far-right populist leaders in almost every part of the world though. Narendra Modi, Jair Bolsonaro, Duterte in Philippines...yuekit
- So while I'm happy to criticize the USA, I don't think it can all be pinned on the American system or on liberalism generally. It's worse than that, many peopleyuekit
- just naturally tend towards authoritarianism and a reactionary worldview. You can see this by how easily people gravitate towards various far-right ideologiesyuekit
- and belief systems online. Many of them just didn't have someone to vote for until this current wave of shithead leaders showed up. So in that respect Trumpyuekit
- actually shows that USA is NOT that different from the rest of the world, US voters can get taken in by a demagogue just as easily as everyone else.yuekit
- Indeed but in other countries we have traditions of left and right... we have populists but we also have nationalists and many flavours in between...kingsteven
- While Bolsonaro and Duterte modeled themselves in the image of Trump in the simplicity of their idiology many other leaders are traditional right nationalistskingsteven
- It would be almost impossible in the uk for example for Nigel Farage to become prime minister. We have boris because the alternative was too left.kingsteven
- Just the idea that a tv celebrity with no political background could become leader of the free world is american constitutional post modernismkingsteven
- Executive orders to remove the US from the Iran deal. paris agreement. How does that happen?kingsteven

I gotta say — that an American President is even hinting that he wants to go for a third term should be a FUCKING HUGE WARNING SIGN to every true American.
- I hear he’s “only joking”Ramanisky2
- The huge fucking warning sign was years ago. This is the logical conclusion of long gone failures.CyBrainX
- i know - but treading on domains that are unequivocally unconstitutional?Nairn
- It's the 22nd Amendment. His supporters love it but will kill you if you talk about messing with the 2nd.bainbridge

“Any attack by Iran, in any form, against the United States will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude!”

WTF this fucking stupid buffoon president tweeting like a goddamn crazy dictator. America sucks so hard now.
- He wants conflict, Iran is an easy target, so his page in history isn't just filled with COVID deaths and race war.face_melter
- Iran's an easy victim, but a fucking hard target. There're reasons the US hasn't gone beyond cold hostilities and sanctions with the country.Nairn

Trump election ad uses stock military image 'featuring Russian fighter jets'
The fundraising ad uses an image featuring Russian MiG-29s and at least one soldier with an AK-47, experts say

If there's any chance he can pardon himself, we were kidding ourselves this country was ever a democracy. That aside, this is a pretty good summary of Fat Donny's potential future.
- If Trump loses the election, he'll resign and have Mike Pence pardon him to prevent a federal prosecution, Michael Cohen's book claims.utopian

Trump says people in countries like Austria "live in the forest" and have "forest cities." He says in these areas they "have more explosive trees" than California.
we have no exploding trees, actually it´s quiet lovely in the woods around here and a city in the forest i´am sure u won´t find it.
- What a fucking morondasohr
- Exploding trees, you say?
