anyone here ever had to use LaTex at all?
I've been tasked with creating some newsletters in LaTex but I'm completely pants at it...
If there's some way of converting ANYTHING into latex, like a indesign file or something, I'd be incredibly grateful....or even some kind of mac GUI application that can create a Latex file....something a designer would use...
so far in my research I've come up with squat.....
I've tried 'inkscape' and it was able to save some kind of latex code, but when i tried uploading it to a latex app like 'latexit' it just spat out a ton of errors...
any help would be seriously appreciated...

seems like InDesgn to LaTex would be a bit of a stretch.
It looks like there are quite a few LaTex gui editors out there though. did you google it?

http://www.lyx.org/I have the same experience you do with it though, so I don't really know if any of these are good or worthwhile or what you are looking for.
It is likely you'll have to learn some of the language to address errors any gui editor will produce though.

thanks akiersky...
I've had a look through most of those links before..the closest one i think is probably Lyx, but i was hoping someone had found (or created) something better....some sort of conversion tool that would take a nice layout in one format and convert it to LaTex....thanks a ton for replying though...much appreciated!

are you close to a university or technical college? math and science people use LaTex all the time, and may know how to do this....tried this a long time ago and got such weird formatting I just had to do it by hand instead of tweek a ton,,,

thanks vax...
i suppose I'm close enough to Uof Toronto, but don't know anyone i could ask there...
was hoping i could find some kind of workflow to just export what i needed...
like, Word to LaTex,
or html to LaTex or something..anything really....
would love it if i could find some kind of tool that would just save my file in proper latex but haven't seen anything yet...starting to drive me nuts...
not sure why the hell this has landed on my desk, rather than one of our developers, but i'd like to atleast give it an honest try before i kick it back and say 'nope...sorry, can't do it'....

how about another approach:
find a nice latex newsletter template and change the content?http://www.latextemplates.com/te…
http://www.latextemplates.com/te…
((first google results))that way you can get a functioning result and learn about how latex actually works.
