Weather should be great as usual. I'll post a list of my usual suggestions later this evening.
If you don't have a hotel lined up yet, I highly suggest staying at the newly reopened Chicago Athletic Association hotel. It is awesome. My office took a tour of it a couple of weeks ago, and my wife and I are going to do a staycation there in a couple of weekends.
Yes, I said staycation.

Chicago is AWESOME!
I love that city. Still has ethnic communities of all types. It's like a giant Pittsburgh, where I originate.
The only thing wrong with Chicago is it's politics (the worst) and the fact O'bummer lived there.

A few good tips I always give to people:
If you plan on going to the Hancock building, skip paying to visit the observatory and instead go have a drink at the Signature Room bar on the 96th floor.
We've got a newish and growing riverwalk on the south side of the Chicago river, running parallel to Wacker Drive. It's a nice walk and free.
There are bike rental places all over the city with the Divvy service.
https://www.divvybikes.com. The bikes are 40 pounds and ride pretty slowly, but it's a nice way to get around and the city has been improving bike lanes for several years now.Unless you have kids and like pain, skip Navy Pier completely. Don't bother. There are plenty of other great areas to walk along the lake, especially bordering Grant Park and across Lake Shore Drive.
We've got a new park called the Maggie Daley Park that opened last year and that people are loving.
http://maggiedaleypark.comThere's a climbing wall, walking trails, and it's just to the east of Millennium Park and the Art Institute.
You can see the park below, and I drew a line along where there's a good walk or bike ride along this part of the lake, down to the museum campus where you'll find the Art Institute, the She'd Aquarium, and the Planetarium. Soldier Field is just to the south of there.
The Chicago Eater website does a monthly "honest restaurants this month" feature. Definitely a great way to find some good places to eat. Summer is nice because some places have outdoor areas.
http://chicago.eater.com/maps/be…Crime
Also, I'd be an irresponsible Chicagoan if I did't tell you that downtown crime typically goes up a lot in the summer months when all the bangers from the South Side come up to downtown to prey on tourists and clueless suburbanites. We're running low on cops here and these idiots know it, so they frequently attack and rob people along Michigan Avenue, usually in medium sized groups, just out to cause trouble. The area where you can walk under Lake Shore Drive from Michigan Ave to Oak Street beach is a particular trouble spot: these assholes will literally attack, beat up, and rob people in the middle of the day around here, or will stand around in groups trying to intimidate people who are just out to enjoy the day. The bend on the bike path at Oak Street Beach is almost always an issue.Be cautious if you're carrying around a nice camera or anything like that. I'm not saying this happens constantly, but it's an issue every single summer when the weather gets warmer.
- < what he said. He's got the Chicago scoop.kona
- Fanstastic. Much appreciated.wagshaft
- You're very welcome!mg33
- I'm pissed they took out the tennis courts. Last time i was there (6 years ago) i played a few matches in the shadows of the buildings on Randolph.wagshaft
- Though I'm sure the new park is fantastic.wagshaft
- I think there are still tennis courts further south in the park.mg33
- Not sure if you skate or not... but they also built an awesome new free skate park at the very south of Grant Park - http://chicago.curbe…mg33
- Just don't look like you should be robbed.wordssssss
- LOL at bangers.wordssssss
- mg331
wagshaft,
I'm not telling you to go and visit this, but I've recently learned of a growing homeless encampment just south of where you'll be staying. It's a sad story, but some photographers and journalists have been doing a project about it for the last year or so.

What are the best areas to stay in? Looking for Airbnb's in June. Have never been to Chicago before.
- logan(off the blvd)
wicker(for ur bars)
Hyde park(for the lake and hood)dorkKn1ght - Probably quite a few Air B&B's in high rises downtown, which could be fun if you have never stayed in one like that before.mg33

Ok, I lied. Chicago isn't shit. It's pretty cool during the summer time (block parties, lake Michigan beach, baseball games, food, booze, concerts, etc.) but every other time it's shit! :)
- mg33 & kona once showed me the way...I was a baby then, now I'm a man!studderine

Been referring to this site whenever I'm out of Chicago (mostly Paris + LA ) but looking through it, I've found a few things a local might not have seen as well.

Go here if you like BBQ. It will get you out of the expected neighborhoods and into a more true Chicago vibe:
