Why cant I render an MP4 out of AE CC2015?
I need to render a big 1080p video out. I cant use quicktime, so it looks like my next best option is AVI, and there doesnt seem to be any proper codec options.
No matter what codec I select, I get some mismatch error.

So I have to render out as what, an AVI first, then convert it? Isnt this going to lower the quality, rendering it twice like that?

I output as animation or ProRes then use MpegStreamClip.

yup I render it out as an .mov with ProRes or Anim codec and then I use Media Encoder or Handbrake to convert to an .mp4

I'm not sure about CC2015 but in CC2017 AME you can export to all formats just about (H264 MP4, ProRes, Animation, etc etc).
Once it loads in AME, just click the link to the far left, a dropdown, should appear, then just select the format. The 2nd link from the left are the format's settings.

Handbrake!!!
Smallest file size exports, fastest processing!
Just export as animation and compress from there. AME sucks donkey balls in terms of quality IMO.

hey, just send to adobe media encoder and render it
the adobe renderer is present either in after effects, adobe media encoder and premiereall of them can render your after effects comps
the reason that you don't have these formats on after effects, i think, is something legal.. not sure why they removed it
but just render straight to adobe media encoder and you're good
just opt+cmd+m or ctrl+alt+m on your comp and wait for the AME to open

Anyone else finding that it takes a super long time to send a render to adobe media encoder from aftereffects?
