The CEO of CBS gave the most honest quote about Trump back in 2016:

"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS...the money's rolling in and this is fun." lol

He wasn't wrong, this event in particular really helped further destroy America's credibility. In China there were entire books and papers being written analyzing the decline of America after this.

Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, I think the motivation is probably the same...Trump was great for Twitter's business, during 2016-2020 they added users after which it leveled off. It made Twitter the center of the conversation, what crazy thing will Trump say next.

    • Of course that's why Elon wants Trump back on Twitter...it's ALL about "Making Twitter Great Again! – Thanks Elon of saving the human race again!utopian
    • Twitter leadership was happy to accept all the attention and new users when trump was spewing nonsense throughout his campaign and presidencynb
    • They used Jan 6 as a reason but they also knew that there would be a steep steep drop off of new users joining because of an ex-president.nb
    • They used him until he was no longer profitable. Elon won’t be better, but twitter has always been scummynb

Tesla and EVs are cool but the best thing you can do for the environment is not drive a car.

Assuming you must drive, the second best thing you can do?

Don’t buy a new car. Take care of your current car and drive it until you die.

    • Use public transport where possible.Chimp

    • Old cars are horrible for the environment.formed
    • If well maintained, an old car fine. Clean your air filter, inflate your tires, change your spark plugs, use a thinner synthetic oil. Drive 10% under the limit.monNom
    • Cars 20 years ago were getting similar mileage to todays vehicles, and they don't require any additional energy to manufacture.monNom
    • EVs on the other hand are extremely energy intensive to manufacture (which is why they cost more). and their useful life is probably less due to battery wear.monNom
    • Not to mention that the additional electricity generation for every additional EV is probably coming from gas-fired powerplants.monNom
    • Which might be more efficient than an ICE engine, but when you factor in line losses, conversion losses (step down and AC to DC), and heat lost during chargingmonNom
    • ...It might not be much better than a hybrid.monNom
    • The best thing we can do to reduce our footprint is to make the things we already have last as long as possible. We save all the mining, transport, processing.monNom
    • @monNom there are 182 countries in the world where you're going to find cars.
1st you have to fix the logistics for spare parts, than you have to get people to
      sted
    • care about this on a level what makes sure they everybody spends money! and time on clean your the filter, inflate tires, change spark plugs, etc.sted
    • (still in 182 countries) right after this you can start teaching people how to "drive sustainably". These things require a lot of painful tools and the collabsted

Since I get asked very often by Elon's critics what good @elonmusk has done, I thought I'd share a thread w/links.

Aside from his work with Tesla and SpaceX, I'll focus on what he has done to help our world and people in need.

I think he’s using the “bots” as an excuse to not buy twitter because he’s getting cold feet as the stock market is tanking and he’s seeing his TSLA billions being evaporated too.

Overall a shady move. Even more so than the “funding secured” to take TSLA private stuff.

Musk says he’ll be voting for GOP, says Twitter has ‘very far-left bias’
