Sitting in my basement having a beer and finally getting around to editing the 900 photos I took of a dozen kids in February for their acting headshots. It's a nice respite from the rest of the day. I have some OCD issues when I have a lot of anxiety - nothing diagnosed by any means - but when I'm stressed I really enjoy steady and repetitive tasks.
My company let 15% of our 150 people go today, and everyone who remains is getting a 5-6% salary reduction temporarily until things get better. I really don't even care about that aspect. I hate to lose good coworkers. I just want my health insurance to continue for my family. It's not like we're doing anything fun or expensive right now - mortgage and bills and food is all we really need. Hell, our Audi SUV needed it's yearly oil change and maintenance three weeks ago and we cancelled it because we're not driving anywhere these days, it's under the milage at that maintenance tier, and isn't essential.
It was absolutely beautiful outside today, in the low 60's. We got in a long family walk, my daughter's bestie from across the street came along, and it fucking kills me that we have to tell these two sweet little girls to not get too close to each other. My daughter played in the backyard on a quilt while I worked on my laptop outside, which was so nice.
We've also crushed half a box of limited edition coconut caramel Oreo's and they're completely amazing.
So, back to editing, and I should probably turn off the new NIN Ghosts V album, because it's ominous and foreboding as hell and is way too perfect of a soundtrack. I keep looking at all these kids' photos and finding a mix of happiness that Covid 19 isn't affecting children that much, but also thinking to myself "what if this is the last nice photo taken of any of these kids?" I let my mind wander and ruminate about the dumbest things way too much, but it's far too easy to do that right now.
Last but not least, tomorrow is movie night and we're going to watch The Goonies with my daughter. She's 5, and we're probably letting her see way more movies than we normally would at this age. Some kids are going to grow up way too fast because of this.

Hobo Tip of the Day - in the old days, people used to hang their musty clothes next to a window to bleach them with sunshine. I've been using winter gloves when I go outside. I rotate through a couple pair of gloves and leave the recent ones on the window ledge to let them dry in the sunlight. I don't know if it does any good but i can swap out gloves and feel like it's something I can control, possibly helpful, and only slightly ocd.
