JESUS FUCK.
People dying apparently, but not up close or anything. Not any less horrid.
Basically, a Tesla S/X spacks out and just guns it, apparently unstoppably (unstoppably?).
- Model Y/X, sorry.
Apparently they do actually have a 'kill switch' to just stop the battery connection.
Fucking computers.Nairn - I wonder if he just does that occasionally for the lols? Overrides the system uses a VR headset to watch it through the onboard camerasPhanLo
- how do we not know it was the driver?shapesalad
- but regardless.. I miss 90's cars. A Saab. Classic, sensible, easy to understand car.shapesalad
- https://twitter.com/…PhanLo
- @ss - to my eye it looks like they were dearly trying not to die from the way they're swerving around, but sure, who the fuck knows?Nairn
- Oh shit. Looks like it wasn't the occupants that died. https://english.alar…Nairn
- Wondered if they tried the handbrake?PhanLo
- Apparently they have electric handbrakes, not physical ones. ie, I guess the motors are kept in check by the magnets.Nairn
- Everything is electric these days.
Probably a good thing that link doesn't work anymore...formed - driver error, flooring the gas, not the brakes. surprisingly common.inteliboy

What a cockhead Musk is...from the bloke that made $52bill in 2018 IN SALARY.
“Last year, Elon Musk parted ways with one of his top deputies at Tesla Inc., TSLA 2.75%increase; green up pointing triangle a French auto-industry executive named Jerome Guillen.”
“Mr. Guillen worked at Tesla for roughly a decade, rising to oversee the company’s car division. He was rewarded with equity grants that swelled with Tesla’s valuation. By the end of 2020, Mr. Guillen’s unvested equity in the car maker was valued at around $600 million, according to an Equilar Inc. analysis.”
“As their long relationship broke down, Mr. Musk made an unusual request: He asked Mr. Guillen to forfeit some of his unvested equity in the car maker, people familiar with the matter said. Soon after, Mr. Guillen left Tesla.”
“Exactly what went wrong between the two leaders couldn’t be learned. But some of the people familiar with the matter said one issue of broader concern for Mr. Musk has been that some employees were making more from Tesla than he thought their contributions merited.”
- Have often heard to 'invest in Tesla stock', just never been able to... something smells.shapesalad

When Tesla's (+ other cars) cars become fully self driving... connected to the web... How soon until government, when it wants, locks the doors, changes the route, and drives you straight into confinement?
Just imagine a CCP like future, all cars are self driving cars, perhaps you don't own a car, it's all a giant taxi fleet - you are a jounralist/campaigner etc fighting some governmental Orwellian, you get in a car, set your destination and.. oh no, straight to a unmarked police torture chamber.
- * governmental Orwellian nightmare.shapesalad
- Or a car “accidentally” runs over protesters.Chimp
- Only Jesus can take my wheel.palimpsest
- Don’t worry, full self driving was a lie. Tech people who once lauded it are now saying it may never be possiblenb
- you'll probably have rootkits to hack your car if you want to engage in anti gov activities.uan
- surveillance cams are doing a good job already. We actually need face changers to run away from biometrics. maybe our kids can have that luxuryBeeswax

looks way better
- I disagree, the interior looks so cheesy and so over the top "look at me I'm electric"NBQ00
- Mercedes really missed the market, totally the wrong direction. Look at the Audi e-tron RS and Porsche Taycan for good desigs (part the Audi).formed
- Almost all of the Mercedes has been hideous for well over a decade now and don't seem to be getting any better.formed

I used to be a Tesla fan but since a few years they are just cutting corners wherever possible.
First of all these are not cheap cars. Model 3 was supposed to be an affordable electric car and even the basic specs version is pricey.
But it turns out the manufacturing is often piss poor, many customers complain about faulty stuff, badly assembled parts, water leaks or other things missing.
And now I read they are removing more features (sensors, etc) to reduce costs while the prices remain the same.
At the same time over the past years they kept increasing prices and also the price of the "FSD" feature while the quality is going down and still no "Full Self Driving". Latter has just been the same since few years and no real progress.
It's good that other brands are starting to catch up so Tesla gets more competition.
- 100%. Tesla 3 feels so cheap. iPad dashboard is an awful UX. They’ll have brand power for years, but other car makers already make better electricsnb
- Tesla does need to improve, but they have the momentum to do it. All the other brands are praying something sticks, but so far, it looks like a transition withformed
- nothing really sticking out (though I do LOVE the Audi e-tron RS)formed
- Tesla deserves a lot of credit though, it’s probably incredibly difficult to break into the market. It’s impressive, even if the cars are kinda shittynb
- People don’t buy cars that stick out. They dream about them, but almost everyone buys an SUV, minivan or pickup truck that looks exactly like all the other onesnb
- People don’t want to stand out from the crowd. Majority of cars are available in black, white, 3-5 shades of grey and maybe one color (red or blue).nb
- *two colorsnb
- I was appalled when I first saw a Tesla at a showroom years ago, none of the panels were fitting right with varying gaps in between. And this was a showroom carBeeswax

Bullish on Tesla.
Worried about what working men are going to do in the future.

TESLA OWNER SAYS HE’S MAKING $800 PER MONTH USING HIS CAR TO MINE CRYPTO
WARNING: DOING THIS MIGHT VOID YOUR TESLA’S WARRANTY.In a gloriously cursed marriage of crypto bro trends, a Tesla owner claims he uses his electric vehicle to mine crypto — and makes as much as $800 a month while doing it.

Watch a Tesla owner blow up his Model S with 66 pounds of dynamite instead of paying $22,000 to repair it.
