Several official government representatives from Washington have increased pressure on EU officials to transfer money to Kiev to buy weapons from the US - €3.5 billion a month!
EU, wake up! Stop financing the proxy war provoked by the Yanks in Ukraine!
via https://prod.berliner-zeitung.de…
"The precarious state of Ukraine's public finances is causing unease in the U.S. government. The Financial Times (FT) reports that several official government representatives from Washington have increased pressure on EU officials to transfer money to Kiev.
Several meetings were held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, it said, at which U.S. representatives expressed displeasure with the slow pace of payments from Brussels. An EU official told the FT that Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also met with European Council President Charles Michel to that end.
He said he told the EU that Kiev needed about 3.5 billion euros every month. "The one message was the urgent need to actually get the money," the official said. Shmyhal argued that this should happen "as soon as possible." Grants and loans are equally welcome, he said. Accordingly, U.S. officials stressed to EU officials that it is necessary to provide financial support to Ukraine as long as the Ukrainian offensive in the south is successful.
One problem for Ukraine could be possible Russian sanctions against Ukrainian state-owned gas supplier Naftogaz. Naftogaz is fighting a dispute against Russia's Gazprom Group in an arbitration court. Gazprom rejected all of Naftogaz's payment claims on Tuesday. As Reuters reports, Russia is threatening the Ukrainian gas supplier with sanctions. These would result in Ukraine losing its lucrative transit fees, further placing a significant burden on the state budget."

UAF are making speedy progress in Kherson region.
"Good lord, Russian front is apparently collapsing in the south.
I just can’t keep up with reports on newly-liberated towns coming every other hour."https://twitter.com/IAPonomarenk…
A few more days and they may be in front of Kherson city.
The psychological impact of the UAF success in the past week must be big on the Russians with morale going down even more and them getting whacked left and right.
- Problem is this will make someones shaky finger move even closer to the big red nuke launch button.shapesalad
- ^ To say nothing of the fact that there's no guarantee the UAF can actually sustain control over re-taken territory.Continuity

• Don't underestimate the enemy or take him for granted
• Take the threat seriously, and prepare accordinglyContinuity - 200k shitty soldiers can't do shit if they don't have something approaching a functional logistical chain supporting them.Nairn
- And most of the reason Ukr's making so many gains recently is because it has hammered Russian's seemingly poor excuse for logistics.Nairn
- All Ukr need to do is ensure that Russian Railways are too unsafe to rely upon. Russia's apparently paralysed without trains.Nairn

It's amazing how over half a year in there's still no good explanation for why the war happened.
If it was a war against NATO it's a miserable failure given that two more countries joined NATO. The idea of "fighting the Nazis" was always laughable and now undermined even more after Putin exchanged the captured Azov battalion fighters for his friend in a prisoner swap.
Latest version seems to be Putin framing the war as an ideological struggle against the West, but instead of Marxism it's a sub-Fox News far-right conspiracy theorist worldview.
The only justification that really makes sense is to seize land and resources from Ukraine. But even then it's not clear that whatever Russia gained would be worth the cost of destroying ties with Europe and living under sanctions.
- When you only have yes men telling you how great your army is and that entire Ukraine will be in your hands within 2-3 days then that's what happens.NBQ00
- No good explanation? Check out Peter Zeihan on YT. Basically Demographics = this the last chance, ageing + declining population...shapesalad
- ..economcs, want that direct route into west. Political - Putin needs something to keep Russia together, else it fractions.shapesalad
- Add to the mix east vs west ideology, soviet dreams, and Putin tired of being paid in $ for his oil/gas, and having it devalued by the FED.shapesalad
- Regarding population, if Putin tried this in 7 years time, there's be less fighting aged men, in 15 years even less. It was now or never. Now they failed andshapesalad
- are drafting prisoners and retired military and anyone else, regardless of skill or ability.shapesalad
- Should say, sea route into west for shipping. If they had Ukraine as part of Russia it's a massive economic win.shapesalad
- Don't forget Russia is not one unified country, it's massive, people look chinese at one end, white at other. It's only ever been held together by strongmen.shapesalad
- It’s barely a country in any sense. A piranha state run by Soviet era mafiosos, a true kleptocracy. Which is a shame, there is so much potential for Russians_niko
