It would actually be fantastic if Americans decided to stop using drugs.
All those Mexican cartels wouldn't exist.
oh well...
- interesting thought, but the cartels would still exist as the price point on the drugs would just be lower.Point5
- well, a huge market would be gone. they would make more money working at mcd instead.akrokdesign
- nah... The cartels wouldn't really exist. I mean they were nowhere in the past, until the American market opened up.VectorMasked
- The bad economy sure plays a huge roll on this, but the demand from the states has only grown.VectorMasked

You can run but you can't hide ,
here on the border (El Paso), there was a case of a man forced at gun point from his home in the middle of the day , and ended up dead on the streets of Juarez , the man was said to have stolen money from the cartel he was found with his hands cut off
alos on the border man was found with 3 shots to the back of the head and the suspect was a U.S soldier
the cartels are seding young guns into the U.S Army for training

I read in Newsweek that the cartels are setting up shop in small towns (i.e., Huntsville and Birmingham Alabama) taking advantage of untrained law enforcement who cannot effectively counter them.

At first glance I wonder why would anyone want to get involved with the cartels if there's a risk of torture or decapitation. Maybe the economy is so bad that's they're only way of making money. Hopefully the violence doesn't spread into the U.S. but if it does, let's hope it gets erradicated asap.

"Purported leaders include Nazario Moreno Gonzalez, "El Mas Loco" (The Craziest), who is described as a religious zealot who carries a self-published collection of aphorisms (his "bible," authorities say) and insists that the group's traffickers and hit men lead lives free of drugs and alcohol.
Another leader, Dionicio Loya Plancarte, "El Tio" (The Uncle), is a former military officer. Both have million-dollar bounties on their heads.
They recruit at drug rehab centers and indoctrinate followers with an ideology akin to religious fundamentalism, complete with group prayer sessions. Some armed guards wear uniforms with the FM logo, witnesses say. Failure by a recruit to live by the rules is said to be punishable by death.
Moreno Gonzalez has also forbidden the sale and consumption of methamphetamine in Michoacan because it is such a destructive drug. It is for export only, primarily to the U.S. "

I do hand it to the cartel down here though, they don't mess with civilians, only cops and government officials who get in their way.
2 years ago when I moved down here to Culiacan it was pretty rough, remember that bank robbery scene in the movie "heat"? I would hear crap like that almost once a week. since the military took over, these guys pretty much scattered temporarily to other parts of Mexico, they will be back since Culiacan is an important route from Columbia to the US. Im hoping to be back in the US or Japan before that happens because it gets pretty nuts.

My beloved and trustworthy government told me that the Mexican's where a hard working, god fearing and a good people.

not meth or coke, but if they legalized at least their shitty pot they could use the tax $$ to help enforce the laws on the hard crap, while the cartels loose profits on 1/3 of their exports
- doesn't work. i know what your going for. there so much other stuff to the whole circle. ex. prostitution. trafficking. etc.akrokdesign
