Jackson should play the Hobbit himself...he looks perfect for the part

Props to Jackson for using real sets instead of f*ck*ng green screens *everywhere*.

No real news here, but when else are you going to see Gandalf (Ian McKellen) in 3D glasses? Here is he on the set of The Hobbit--presumably checking out footage they've shot--in a photo taken by Peter Jackson in Wellington.

Hobbit Explosion Injures Two Crew Members
Paramedics were called to Peter Jackson’s New Zealand studio Tuesday morning following an explosion that injured two men working on the director’s $500 million Hobbit production.

Update...
"Confirmed reports later revealed that Sir Ian Ian McKellen, who portrays Gandalph in the film, was also injured and remains in critical condition in Auckland City Hospital, suspending filming and calling into question long term concerns on how the production proceeds."

When talking recently about the fact that Stephen Fry has joined the cast of Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit, we mentioned that there would probably be at least a few more casting odds and ends to report over the coming months. Now one has been let out of the bag by Martin Freeman, who plays Bilbo in the film. While at the TV BAFTA awards in London over the weekend, Martin Freeman mentioned that his Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch would appear in The Hobbit.

Dim reaction to high-def look of Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit'
- CygnusZero40
Yeah I read that yesterday. Dope is just like James Cameron, has to shoehorn every single latest technology into everything he works on.
It was fine with LOTR because all he could do was a ton of CGI stuff then, well now he can actually shoot in 48fps rather than 24, the way they've been shooting films for 80 years, so it has this ultra smooth look that is very strange.
If anyone here has ever seen a 120hz that has a true motion option, then they know what this looks like. It's called the soap opera effect and has a really weird over processed look to it. I've seen multiple sites that were at CinemaCon complain about how it looked. Nice job Peter.
- *seen a 120hz LED TV, I meantCygnusZero4
- I hate that tru motion shit.. makes every movie look a broadcast TV show. GARBAGEbogue

Yup 48fps looks like soap opera TV. Apparently it benefits 3D, which I couldn't care less about. A real shame.
Jackson is like Lucas - successful kids with healthy egos eager to run amok on the latest film tech, regardless if it's tasteful or not.

can you believe how stupid all these color tv shows look? things were fine in black & white. besides, the color looks fake.

- Not the same geniusCygnusZero4
- Fyi ppl loved color when it came out. Noone loves the soap opera effect. Jackson = cameron = lucasCygnusZero4
- that'll be your secret. color tech took over 15yrs to make it into homes when people were comparatively richalbums
- you miss the point that people like yourselves are resistant to change because it takes you from your comfort zone.albums
