lemmy_k, are you being facetious, or are you serious? If you're serious, what does "moving hand to mouth to simulate smoking" have to do with anything? And nicotine -like any drug- has both its own benefits, and hazards

lemmy_k, secondly, that has nothing to do with what I had claimed. I said I quit smoking tobacco. It works, and I am living evidence of that. Furthermore, I've cut down vaping from every other night, to twice a month. Again, evidence.

I'd smoked for about 20 years and last April I decided to stop.
Over about 3 weeks I cut down the amount I was smoking and would occasionally have some gum at night when the cravings got their worst or when I was having a drink.I'd only tried a few times previously to stop but was never successful as never really had my heart in it.
I guess you've just got to decide for yourself and make sure it's a definite thing that you want to and are going to stop.
Personally I wouldn't faff about with e-cigarettes as it's not really getting you out of any habits.
It's not the nicotine that's the addiction really - it's easy to overcome. The thing that's hardest to overcome is your ritual cigarette times and to breakout of this routine and do something else instead.
Nowadays when I walk past someone smoking 50% of the time i think "yuck" and 50% of the time if it's a nice smelling brand i'll crave it.
I'd never be a preacher against smoking, each to their own its a personal choice but I will say that it's easier than you think to stop - it's all about breaking rituals not beating an addiction.
Definitely DON'T bother with those e-cigs though.

I don't get the logic of some of you people. Telling people to not bother using e-cigarettes, when you've never even tried them; or claiming they don't work --yet again without having tried them. If you haven't tried them, or don't have any peer-reviewed studies that show you otherwise, you need to not open your mouth. It potentially curbs ones efforts into quit tobacco smoking.
How can anyone make these claims, when there's plenty of evidence that suggests otherwise?
- My arguement is that nicotine and smoking isnt the addiction. the addiction is breaking out ofmicrokorg
- the habbit of smoking itself. so whether its an actual cigarette or an e-cig you are still "smoking"microkorg
- i'm not preaching anti-smoking. im saying this as advice from someone who's successfully given up for nearly a year nowmicrokorg
- i know FOR SURE if i had taken up e-cigs i'd probably still be smoking them!microkorg

don't judge others. If you want to use e-cigs, use them. if you don't, don't. People have many different kinds of habits/vices.

These are the few things that I learned about ecigs that helped me quit smoking.
1. Get the lowest amount of nicotine. I use 6%
Its the worst when you over nic yourself. You can always vape more.2. Remember the vape is absorbed mostly in your mouth and throat. So it takes a delayed effect. Not as instant as a cig. Its takes about a min to curb cravings.
3. You will never find a vape that will taste like a cigarette. So stop trying. Instead treat it differently. Vapes tend to work really well with fruit flavors and Caramel/Vanilla types.
Enjoy

^ Tobacco companies are going to be funding studies like this probably throwing endless piles of money at these studies 'cos they are shitting their pants that people are going to stop smoking tobacco.

- There's truth there but that does not mean there are not possible dangers. That comes with any drug though.discoduro

The primary concern I have with these things is the fact that, as best as I can tell*, the vast majority of the consumables are made in China.
Does anyone know of any purely Euro- or US-made products?
.
* Some friends and I seriously investigated selling e-Cigarettes about 6 years ago, so I did quite a lot of research back then. We decided that the market in the UK was probably nearing saturation and we'd be chasing ever dwindling percentages. God, how wrong we were...

Sorry, to clarify - the bit I don't want 'made in china' is the Juice..
..fuck only knows what they put in that stuff.
I want the artesenal, overpriced shit squeezed from virgin's cum.
