This is quite handy (if, like me, you loathe shitty in app purchases and want to find apps that are paid-for by default)...

interesting to see what lg pull out their arse this year. i loved my g2 but ended up with an s6 edge+ for my last upgrade. if only they could use samsungs amoled screen, stick dual speakers, bezel-less display and a kick ass battery in it.
- have a look at the Pixel. just got it. superb.fadein11
- Pixel is the best Android phone ever made.Bennn
- I was suprised with the Pixel, too. Looks boring in pictures, but it really is a nice phone (I'd have one if they had production up! No 128gb or 5.5 ones)formed
- Benn is correct, from my experience at least. Superb.fadein11
- I jumped over to an S7 Edge and think it's great. Vanilla Android seems lacking in comparison - but, y'know, horses for courses.face_melter
- At the end of the day, they all do the same thing - it all boils down to personal preference. Jumpers for goalposts, isn't it?face_melter
- the pixel isnt a good looking phone imhotrooperbill

If i shoot a quick vid on my phone at full res (4k), what is the best way to send that video via sms or FB chat?
I want the receiver to view it in full res by simply clicking play instantly. Can 3rd party apps be embedded in to text app?
i hate getting vids from family and friends and only viewing the most blurry horrible video as if we are in 2005.
- Share it through Google Drive maybe? I think it has the ability to view/play media.face_melter
- what face said - DO NOT send 4K video as SMS. upload to drive and share a linkfadein11
- send from phone?
why not take the card and upload to your computer?pango - Im talking about sending a video while out and about.HijoDMaite
- HijoDMaite0
- Depends what you use it on - regular Android remains anemic and lacking in features, Samsung does great things with the battery life, Moto has neat gestures.face_melter
- best thing is 'android neko' hidden game - google it, implemented the popular neko atsumeyovkov
- I'm really enjoying it on my s7, alarm clock, quick menu etc all really good.BuddhaHat
- the alarms and timer are nice. took me a while to realize they had hidden the screen brightness control. I had to unhideHijoDMaite

- I was quite taken with the quality of the S7 Edge - I wanted a larger phone, but not a jabba huge one, it packs a big screen into a small chassis.face_melter
- The much-vaunted Edges are fucking useless though.face_melter
- Have you held a Note 7? I agree about the edge, but on the N7 it was refined, not like the S7. I liked it, the N7 was the same size as my S5, but larger scrnformed
- Nah, picked up the Edge after the N7 debacle. But I have read that the edges were better implemented.face_melter

Yo, the battery life on the Moto Z Play is pure mental.
I've been playing music (local, from SD card) almost non-stop since 8:30am (now 5pm) and the battery is at 91% - with WiFi and Bluetooth on, low brightness, and the occasional check on Twitter and SMS - nothing heavy I grant you but that's my normal work-day routine. With other phones it was close to the 70% mark at this time. Shit is bananas.
- what did you have before???
AN IPHONE??GeorgesII - I have the Galaxy S7, i'm charging it once a day in the evening, even if the battery is still at 60% or 45%, I'm charging anyway.Bennn
- This is day and night compared to when i was on iPhonesBennn
- My iPhone would shut down in cold temperatures. The galaxy S7 can live on -20C no problemoBennn
- what did you have before???

Well fuck me, this is pretty bad.
I guess I thought my Nexus 5 was till getting relevant security updates... more fool me.
"Nexus phones starved of security fixes after just three years"
- Force obsolescence continues....money, money, money....great strategy, keep everyone upgrading endlesslyformed
- This shit makes me want to investigate an open source phone os. All you need is a browser for most things.section_014
- RIP Firefox OS!detritus
- Google are absolutely piss-poor at supporting their own devices in the long term. The N5 is a great phone, you should look into custom roms to extend its life.face_melter
- Yeah, I'm going to flatten it at some point and install whatever Cryogen's called these days. Probably after I've fixed the hella-damaged screen :)detritus
- dmay0
- If it was half the price I'd consider it at the very least, but at the same price as a Sony I see little point in giving a second thought.set
- At this pre-release stage, at least.set
- Yeah, the market for full-spec, feature-rich Android phones is full of $400/$500 devices now. No reason to spunk any more for a very good piece of kit.face_melter
- I like it, especially that it's not got a logo on... but it's ultimately just another Android slab? So fuck?detritus
- phone has a big chin and the icon bar is huge to accommodate the camera. still waiting for a full edge to edge phone.trooperbill
- I really think some of this stems from the litigation of Apple, Android and Samsungkgvs72

Switched from 6s to S7 two days ago, very quick and easy to get used to, what a breath of fresh air, man I was missing out. Better usability with apps and customization, many features iphone doesn't offer, nice!
- monoboy0
If it wasn't for the dodgy logo, tempted to switch to one of these bargain bucket specials...

British made. Not a patch on an iPhone/Pixel but I'm not going to put down £600 for a phone again.
I just want calls and text, a decent camera, calendar and a web browser. Nothing else.
- The phono jack connection went on my last iPhone, can't playback any media. Still plays sounds on calls, alarms and notifications.monoboy
- Still works through headphones and external speakers through the jack.monoboy
- My iPad is less than useless now as well. It's old, but it's so slow with any basic functions it's pretty much a £400 paperweight.monoboy
- I'd love apple to produce a MVP iOS for older devices so they at least have some usable function.monoboy
- ahem, you were arguing with me not 6 months ago that iOS was fine on older devices... as a rebuttal to my complaint which mirrors exactly yours. You even pastedzarkonite
- a link with benchmarks as proof?!?!zarkonite
- I think you are referring to a chat about why I don't upgrade my MacOS. This is why. Because it bricks older tech forcing you to constantly upgrade hardware.monoboy
- A position I took because of my iPhone. I didn't want to do the same to my Macbook Pro so I don't upgrade by default anymore.monoboy
- cruddlebub1
- Turn off and log out of your iMessage account (if you use it) otherwise all messages will continue to be sent to that device/account.face_melter
- You can send SMS' from the Android phone, but replies will be sent back to the iPhone.face_melter
- ahhh ok. thanks. i am wiping and selling the phone. will that still cause a problem.cruddlebub
- It'll be cool but make sure you log out of *everything* before you reset - wiping isn't enough with Apple devices.face_melter
- since19794
once you go back button....
you "aint" coming back- LOLcruddlebub

- innovation never sleepsmonospaced
- yup. I can barely use my ipad now. Sooo slow to get around.formed
- ^ Same. iOS completely and utterly pales in comparison now.set
- I use an ipad for the music and drawing apps, which are great and far superior to anything on android, but using the OS is painfulset
- the back button is the best button. I can't use iOS anymore. My gf has an iPad and its a real pain using it.Bennn
- trooperbill0
hopefully pixel2 will be bezelless or as good as, note 8 looks to be shaping up well if they can sort the fingerprint scanner out. have loved my s6 edge+ and the LGG2 before it.

Anybody looking at getting the OnePlus 5? Reviews are looking good across the board, even if it's not as cheap as the original OnePlus One...- i have two of them in hand. they're plastic backed, light and smaller than an iPhone 7plus, but larger than a 7.imbecile
- They are metal bodied, seen a video of a guy taking one apart.cruddlebub
- Love mine so far, got to get used to the whole Android side of life nowcruddlebub
- I'm thinking about getting onedmay
- i grabbed them again today, yep full body plastic coverimbecile

I've had my oneplus 5 for about a day now and its fantastic thus far. Battery lasted me a solid 13 hours before I needed to charge it up and that was after heavy music listening/video watching/game playing etc. The fast charge is great, fully charged battery in just over an hour.
Camera: is great, need to use it more and get to grips with it fully but I'll post a photo taken with the portrait mode, which I've been impressed with so far.
Its very fast, breezing between apps with consummate ease.
Nothing to grumble about yet but I suggest you get a case! It's a slippy little number
- Does it have the jelly screen thing? OnePlus put the screen in upside-down which causes the display to stretch and wobble when scrolling.face_melter
- They have, or are issuing a fix, but it's a bit of a fuck up to begin with.face_melter
- No mine doesn't seem to have the problem luckily, I've seen a video. Weirdcruddlebub
- Yeah, they did it for space reasons - camera and whatnot. It appears on other phones as well - Moto, Samsung etc. Summat to do with how the panel refreshes.face_melter
- Strange how it's not affecting everyonecruddlebub
