So you are directing, but they don't want to give you a director title. I say tell them to shove it.

So, current title is CD but they won't let you have 'director' in your new title? Oh dear! Marketing Catalyst makes you sound non creative. Good luck with fighting this 'title' battle, it's bull shit that they're making you do this. Congrats on the promotion though!

For companies where 'director' means you sit on the board opt for Creative Lead - this is becoming more common and means exactly the same... until they get you a manager who sits on the board..
also who cares what they call you as long as they pay you better than the last guys..

In house titles are ridiculous. Mine, for example is crap.
Whatever you do just make sure to add some NINJA™ or ROCKSTAR™ to it

You can always upgrade from being CD (Creative Director) to DVD...

Oh, here's a thought:
How about a title that reflects _what you actually do_ at work? Gosh, what a novel idea ...

I'd seriously think about what implied responsibilities are tied to whatever title choices you have.. I was once a "director of" a certain thing that meant I was unfortunately responsible for things I had very little control over... .I left that job after less than a year...
