It's stolen from Total Finder, which turned Finder into tabbed windows. Been using it forever. It's great.

Just turn off tabs in finder prefs, they're pointless in file management anyway

OMG, holding down the command key in the Finder when opening a folder now opens the folder in a new tab instead of a new window. Can some explain the reasoning behind this change?!? It seems to me the ONLY reason to command-double-click a folder would be because you want to open a new window so you can drag some files from one window to the other. NO?

Running Safari instead of Chrome all day, along with PS, DW and ID CS5. No kernel_task problem yet, and the fan hasn't needed to run. Just ran an online Java game for a while (Java 7 installed) in Safari and it has no problem at all. Makes me think it's a Chrome or 32-bit issue.

- Resetting the SMC reminds of OS9 and the 1990s. What a crazy thing to have to do nowadays.nb
- Yeah, you never have to do anything like this on a Windows PC.monospaced

So.... does anyone use Chrome with Mavericks? I've been reading about Chrome being 32-bit only, Java 7 doesn't support 32-bit, and wondering if Chrome or Java (or, a 32-to-64 bit interpreter app of some kind) was making the computer run hot.
I've been using Safari today and keeping Chrome closed, and everything seems to be fine. Coincidence? Or is Chrome shit on Mavericks?
- Maybe it's one of my Chrome plug-ins? Although I don't have anything fancy in my Chrome. Just adblock & iReader.nb
- Do you actually use Java?animatedgif

Has anyone noticed that a process called "kernel_task" takes over your memory? It's running on my machine about 70% of the time, making the fan run and annoying me. Anyone know what this is?
- it's the popcorn settingprophetone
- Is that what has been reving up my fan? Son of a.instrmntl
- that's the kernel, that's basically your computer itself doing stuffmonospaced

- Yeah, I want to know what's causing it. My fan shouldn't run for hours when the computer is just sitting.nb
- ooohhh... focus on what apps your user is running, not the systems processesmonospaced

Ok thanks! Thinking of updating from ML. Anyone notice if usernames passwords are still ok, ftp , sftp clients etc in Dreamweaver. Everything ok to update?
I use apple and pc just want to be sure everything is ok before I do.

I just purchased my first new computer in a decade, (late 2013 iMac) pre-installed with Mavericks, of course. Bit the bullet and subscribed to the fancy Creative Cloud™ (Ai/PS/ID/Br) and, so far, nothing but joy. Seriously, joy. Maybe i skipped the bugs with all the system updates since this thread started, maybe i just like how brand new hardware smells ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ regardless, I can recommend it :)

Is it just me or is it apple still playing catch up with android/google?
- STILLmonospaced
- y'know, since they invented the modern smartphone OS, touch screens, icons, etcmonospaced
- Apple just copied them, and is still catching up. Can't even get a decent processor into their phones. Pathetic, right?monospaced
- I dont know about pathetic just concerned that it seems like they are playing catch up.teh

Is it a beta? I'm hearing a lot of bad things. Going to stick with Snow Leopard for now....

I think I am going to figure out how to rollback.
Just for the record, I needed Numbers to send an estimate/open a doc. To dl required a 10.9 update. I said sure why not, I'm desperate. While waiting for this to happen (it took about an our to get the init dl form apps), I discovered that I could grab an older version of Numbers. I did, but later on the 10.9 Continue to Install finally appeared, so I figured, why not, I waited this long. Huge mistake. I should have know better.
Although I realize this is a beta and prone to a lot of bugs, this just seems beyond acceptable to me.

No spinning wheel in the Mail update. Bugs me that I don't know if it is checking my mail when hitting Get Mail.

eh... I've held my tongue (fingers) long enough...
... fuck this update.
Mavericks AND io7 are SHIT.
Take me back in time please... I'm tired of of this 'tidal wave' of bugs, slowed applications and overall bullshit...
... and is it really too much trouble to have my command-tab menu on the screen that's in focus??? Please?? its makes no sense that I always have to look right when focused left...
... my right screen is for Netflix, God Damnit.
*sigh... and ios7... just fuck off... your overly bright green makes it impossible to read my texts... your hideous icons still keep me guessing when I go looking for simple apps such as 'settings' (really?... that's a fucking 'gear')...
...good job minimizing everything down to fucking straight line... //it's made things so much easier to find and use

- Not fixed!instrmntl
- You fucking idiots don't know how toove the main screen to a diff display?monospaced
