"Panic at Adobe HQ for sure!"
haha, like Adobe gives a fuck.
Cloud-based services have to expect this sort of thing to happen, so Adobe insisting upon going down that route is essentially a middle finger up to professionals who NEED 100% uptime.
There're plenty of reasons to distrust and dislike Adobe's recent direction, beyond not wanting to pay a subscription that essentially shackles everyone into an annual product cycle, over the potential for an 18-month to 2 year (or more) cycle that everyone's done up until now.

Take the day off. If you boss asks refer them to me.

Thank goodness the software would have worked perfectly for another month.

I'm not sure the idea was even awesome on paper, at least not for full-fledged desktop applications like Creative Suite. It's a way for companies to control access and charge higher prices. You never own anything, you just rent it.

I have a CC subscription but use CS6 from Creative Cloud subscription still (coming from a paid hard copy version of CS4 Master Collection), mainly because Flash CC doesn't support AS2 and a lot of the work I do still needs to be AS2. PS CC and AI CC you can't take assets into CS6 either. I know a ton of folks still do the same.
Funny that I have a subscription to the latest software but still use their previous version. Someone over there needs to get fired.
I pay for the software subscription tho, don't really care for their "cloud" services.
I don't consider it expensive either (I pay $53 a month). For one dollar and 76 cents a day, considering that my entire profession utilizes most of their software (Flash AE, PS, AI, Acrobat, and DW) and I can make great loot using it, I'd say that's a pretty good deal. It'd be a helluvalot more for the hard copy version where you pay it all up front.

its a lot of money when you use it for personal use and some jobs on the slide.

I wanted to upgrade from Illustrator CS3 to CS6 and not get a CC membership. A few months back I thought I could do it. Now, can only upgrade from CS5. :(
