Such a stupid question. It's only asked so your potential employer can see how you look when you're telling a lie for future reference.

No. Well, yes. I have to admit it: I'm a perfectionist.
For me, it's the best or nothing at all.
If things go badly, I can't be bothered,
but I have a good feeling about this interview.
Seems to me like it's gone pretty well.
We've touched on a lot of subjects,
a lot of things to think about, for all of us.- Good answer.bklyndroobeki

- I think you're being overly PC. I've heard it from black people that "black" is the preferred term.iCanHazQBN
- Want me to call George an African American? He's not from America.iCanHazQBN
- I don't know which country he identifies himself with, so I'm going by race.iCanHazQBN
- I'm really curious as to which term you'd use.iCanHazQBN
- Frankly, I think the fact that you view the term "black" as an insult just shows how prejudice your point of view is.iCanHazQBN
- And I'm done.iCanHazQBN

To all you who use "I'm a perfectionist..." and think this is the perfect answer, this is what you sound like:
If I were interviewing someone, I'd call people on that BS answer. A better candidate will have actually thought of their weaknesses, and then come up with a concrete plan to improve on those areas of their lives. The best person is constantly working on self-improvement, and this can only happen when one recognizes their weaknesses.
If you say a weakness that is actually a strength (like striving for perfectionism) what you're really saying is, "I'm not confident enough to assess myself and be honest about myself." A smart manager would see right through this. Luckily, there aren't too many smart managers.

It's been a while since I've been on that side of an interview for that stupid question.
One time I asked if they wanted me to say, "workaholic or perfectionist, because those are the two responses, right?"I said, "I don;t know what you are really asking me.What's my weakness in life, my career, my last job?"
I then said, "If I discover a personal weakness in this job, I'll do what I can to improve it."
It was a short notice second interview and I was in a pissy mood. Didn't get the job.
The few times I had to hire onsite people I never ask that question. Closest I ask, and beg them to be honest and it's without judgement, "what do you want to achieve here, and with what knowledge you have, what do you think being here might hold you back from?"
I think it's potential better insight into the person, as well as what the outside opinion of the job is. Also provides some thought onto things that could be changed.
- But if asked today, I would say my weakness is QBN and not being able to fully quit it.ETM

Most designers I'd say would consider perfectionism as a weakness. Speaking for myself, I have to have someone tell me when something's done or else I'll refine it forever and I'm rarely happy until my client is. Is that a weakness? Perhaps. It goes away over time, you learn to let certain things go so you can focus your energy on bigger and better projects and tasks.
