    Hmm....the OWC Firewire drives seem to be priced a little better for the GB to price ratio......would be nice to have all the space in one box though. (120GB w/2 or 8 MB buffer Oxford 911@ 7200rpm for around $260 http://macsales.com )

    I have some older Firewire drives that seem to be in similar boxes that have really loud fans in them. I was thinking bout just taking the fans out but I worry about overheating.......Are the fans unnecessary and people just figured this out or ar the newer drives different in how they handle heat.

    I would hate to ruin a drive just cause it's noisy.........any ideas??
