how much would the total book be? I don't think you can charge a monthly fee more then the total cost of the book.
My thoughts: unless the book is one of a kind then the info is out on the web. It might just take a little longer to find. I've got a few books for reference, but I mostly consult google. So I would not pay. but that's me.
Use the site to give some info, enough to give users a feel for the info. but don't give all the info. Use it to sell books.
