Im not going to name names, but in my previous job the very last project I worked on (which was also what gave me the push to quit) was an annual report for a large dairy and food ingredients producer.

I came up with three separate concepts for the AR of which the marketing people wanted to see 2 done up in full (30 pages or so in each concept) so they could visualise the whole report before they would pitch the option to the board so they could commit to one design option. I had the same amount of concept time in which to basically complete both solutions and they constantly made changes but kept iterating that 'they'd know it was right when they saw it'. I was already burned out on annual reports and that was all I could take there, so found another job and handing in my notice.

Last I heard from the senior designer who took over he went to their offices with a G5 and sat there for two days doing edits to finish it off.

    • He told me that there was 5 people sittin around the desk each one making changes to their own documents...ian
    • so he'd make a change, then the next guy would pass on a document that had the section deleted altogether. Nitemare.ian
