I occasionally use Motion 2. There are a few situations where Motion's interface is a little more efficient than AE. Mostly for quicky projects. My overall impression is that you just don't have as much precise control (like what locustsloth said ^)
The keyframe editor could be a lot more user-friendly. Maybe Motion 3 addressed that. It also tends to crash more than AE CS3, at least on my machine.
It's usable, but doesn't really challenge AE.
