Utilizing a service like Society6 frees me up to donate 100% of what I receive; there's no extra overhead I personally bring. I'll be able to collect more from prints than shirts based on Society6's royalties structure. I have a message into the powers that be to see if they would be willing to shave their overhead, so more can be donated. I agree, odds aren't with me, but I'd rather try something, even if it has negligible impact than remain idle.Viking,
You're right; this sprouted from an impulse idea, but it's the best I can do as an individual with the time and resources available to me. I think your suggestion of donating items is great, and it could be great for folks to propose more and more ideas here or elsewhere. Outside of this, my family is exploring additional ways we can help. I'm not tossing my initiative out as "the idea", simply "an idea" that I hope could be added to a very, very long list of initiatives.Poorly thought out or not, if this post gets your wheels turning for ways to help, leads you to a donation channel you're comfortable with, or you find you want to show support through what I'm offering, then this is positive.
