To wit...
I used to spend a couple of days doing extensive mind mapping, insanely long word lists... all in the name of 'process'. And while i'm not devaluing this process, because it certainly has it's merits, I came to many realizations about my own working process.
I found that many times I would circle back to initial ideas and concepts instead of the far-off tangents I would end up at doing the above. I've since learned to trust my instinct and intuition more when doing concept and idea generation and rely less on the tedium of forced process-driven methodologies.
