I did it the other way round. I came to London after working in the states.
Piece of advice: DO NOT go to Boston. IMHO, SF, LA or NY are the best places
As it was mentioned before, ensure you have a visa. Not overly sure how it goes nowadays, though, but for short stays people used study-linked visas that also allowed some working.
Bear in mind that without papers you won't be able to get a job anywhere (even for free) unless you are into cleaning/cooking - as sad as it sounds.
